How To Green Your Personal Bathroom

by Missy on Thursday, February 19th, 2009

When it comes to greening your home, the bathroom is of major consideration as it is one you spend alot of time in.

There are several ways to green up your bathroom, starting with the most used items in it – such as the tub, sink, and toilet. Down to the accessories you decorate with and so on.

As with the other rooms in your home, the greening process can take all sorts of form. For example the materials used, the help contracted to perform the labor, the appliances themselves, the accessories employed, etc. It’s not about one thing or several things, but an ecosystem of things that can be done to equip, furnish and maintain an eco friendly bathroom.

If conservation is your thing, then look into a water efficient toilet low flow shower head and other water saving devices. If you’re wanting to reduce the chemicals present, use natural cleaning agents, eco friendly paint, an anti-microbial and pvc-free hemp shower curtain. As you see there is quite alot that can be done to green your bathroom. Don’t forget about the floor, you can look into more sustainable florring material, such as linoleum. Or instead of buying virgin, try a recycled material.

Consider the daily essentials you use as well, such as your bath towels, shower curtain, rugs, toothbrush and more when choosing to have a more organic and natural bathroom. These are all items you can green up.
