How To Green Your Writing Instruments?

by Missy on Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

With the advent of the internet and the cell phone, many people don’t write as much as they use to. To receive a handwritten note nowadays is truly a special treat.

And when said note is composed on eco friendly paper and written with a sustainable pen or pencil, the environment benefits as well, from this extra special treat. But how does one go about this? Start with the tools you use to compose a handwritten note, mainly the pen and paper.

Use a pen or pencil made with materials that are earth friendly, such as FSC certified wood, corn based plastic, bamboo, and whenever possible go for pens and pencils made using recycled materials. Some notable companies in this space include Sustainable Group, which manufacturers pens made from FSC certified wood. Another is Keep America Beautiful which carries pencils made from recycled denim. Yes old blue jeans. How cool is that.
