A new ATM machine may yet hit the streets soon if they can somehow get their hands or copy what Brazil’s Edra Equipamentos has developed. It took about a year to create and needed about $300,000 to finish.
The Eco-friendly ATM machines make use of environmental-friendly raw materials, doing away with the conventional resins and replacing the walls and ceiling with a polymer coming from a combination of recycled plastic and renewable resources like oilseed plants.
For power, the ATM machines come with photovoltaic solar panels on the roof to power its LED glow when night time falls. During the day, natural light is used through a “Solatube” system that is coated with a 3M film.
In addition to sporting a solar panel, the roof can also be fitted with a rainwater collector making it possible to grow plants on a “green roof” that would enhance the booth’s thermal and acoustic properties. There is also the option for other accessories, such as rubbish bins made from natural fibers and architectural details produced with reused glass.
