McDonalds Goes For Compost

by David Allen on Monday, September 29th, 2008

The fast food chain McDonalds are having a green moment with many of their high street stores being given a green makeover and many of their products having a green background that leaves only one major problem for the food chain.

Waste! The fast food industry generates a huge amount of waste. Now twelve stores are taking part in trial where their waste is taken to a local composting plant. If this proves successful then it could be rolled out nationwide. It is expected that this would save 90,000 tonnes of waste being dumped in the landfill sites.
