G8 Environment Ministers to Meet in Sweden
A big G8 Summit meeting is planned for Monday for 20 environment ministers from around the world. They are planning to discuss issues such as Decembers’ climate change summit in Indonesia, start-up discussions for a post-Kyoto agreement (Kyoto expires in 2012) and international economic development.
While the G8 Summit itself ends today, a consensus was reached that carbon emissions need to be reduced sustainability by the year 2050.
Seems a bit far off given that projections about sea levels, extreme weather and desertification are all approaching much, much sooner, but it’s a start.
