Liege has now become home to an eye-popping structure with the completion of its Olympic Ice Rink just last month. Aside from the fact that the whole structure looks a lot like a beach while resting next to the Mediacite Shopping mall, it is reportedly energy efficient as well.
The ice rink was designed by L’Escaut Architecture and is covered with hundreds of aluminum scales. The cooling equipment inside of the ice rink is backed by a number of energy-efficient systems to maintain its constant 16 degree temperature to make sure the ice is of proper quality.
The ice rink offers about 1,200 seats and covers a surface area of about 6,700 sq. m. The ice rink should be a neat facility for events such as hockey games, ice skating or some other leisure activity.
