Home Depot Is Offering Free CFL Bulbs (April 19th)

by Missy on Monday, April 13th, 2009

Grab a free CFL Bulb on April 19th at your local Home Depot store. To celebrate Earth Day 2009, the guys and gals at Home Depot are offering up to 1 million free CFL Bulbs to consumers.

CFL bulbs use less energy than traditional bulbs and also last about 10x as long. These will pretty much last you a long while. Generally they tend to cost more, but since they last longer – the need to replace isn’t as great. So you could buy a new traditional bulb every two months or so at $2.00 a pop, or you can buy a CFL at $7 to $10 every 5 years or so.

To score the Home Depot freebie, go to the website and find your local shop, then call to see if they are participating. The free CFL offer is good on April 19th.

Oh! and the video above is a cute ditty on the luminescence of a CFL. It’s short at only 39 seconds, so take a quick peek at it.
