London never ceases to run out of ideas as far as turning to clean energy is concerned. And with the Christmas season fast approaching, heat or warmth are certain to be a demand.
Of course we all know how this would translate to more energy consumption but somehow, London has found a way to harness the heat coming from subways to address the said need.
After Mayor Boris Johnson, Islington Council, UK Power Networks and Transport for London, a plan wherein heat would be diverted from a large ventilation shaft onto a thermal network was mapped out – potentially heating hundreds of homes in need of proper warmth.
The new plan would mean reducing carbon emissions by about 60%, a two for one deal which should be a great solution with the chillier days up ahead.
