Pavegen Kinetic Energy Generating Tiles

Step on these tiles and you generate energy. That is the whole concept that Pavegen offers with these kinetic tiles, generating energy from footsteps when stepped on.
The generated energy is stored into lithium polymer batteries, a keen idea which could eventually help power up public utilities like street lights and even some shop signs. The Pavegen is considered a low carbon solution, something which is already in use in three UK schools and also one which makes use of 12 tiles which were on hand during the 2012 London Olympic games.
Originally made for home use, but with the proper backing and funding, it looks like these new breakthrough is being wooed into something bigger for commercial use.
