Exotic Animal Attacks In Connecticut – Leaves Trail Of Questions

by Missy on Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Interesting what happened yesterday in a Connecticut home. The 15 year old pet of Sarah Herold badly mauled a visitor. What you may not know is that this pet was a 200 lb chimpanzee.

Apparently the animal retaliated when it was asked to go back inside the home, after it had let himself out. Then it became wild and started to attack both the owner and the assistant, a lady named Charla Nash.

I think this is a good example of how exotic animals are just that, they are naturally wild. Yes they can be coddled and molded abit into human like behavior. But in the end, exotic animals want to be free from domesticity.

There is no motive given in this incident, other than the pet chimpanzee had Lyme disease, and maybe med’s played a role in his behavior.

My take is the animal probably didn’t want to be captive.
