Dryer Sheets Chemical Hazard for Pets
When Fluffy or Mittens leave hair on clothing, furniture, and elsewhere it is not pretty or easy to clean up. But is it a good idea to use dryer sheets to alleviate the hair mess? With some dryer sheets containing the following chemicals,
- benzyl acetate
- camphor
- chloroform
it is no wonder it is a chemical hazard to use them on your cat or dog, and one that has made many a pet sick or even fatal, when ingested by the pet or from the rubbing on.
Chris Baskind, over at Lighter Footstep, recommends a more natural and eco friendly way to take care of pet hair build up and pet hair messes. Buy a brush or comb and “brush your animal companion daily. A stiff brush or rubber squeegee will make quick work of any hair which gets on furniture. Use a lint brush or length of masking tape to remove danger from clothing”.
This is a great eco-tip for a growing concern with the realization by many about the hazardous chemicals found in our everyday household items. Thanxs, Chris.
