Credit Crunch Affecting Emergency Services

by David Allen on Monday, January 5th, 2009

Money is hard to come by for many government services, this is especially true of the Coast Guard in Japan who are finding it particularly difficult in finding funds for even the most basic of flotation devices.

Here you can clearly see that they have had to make do with some clever use of plastic drinks bottles, these have been fixed together and have a total cost of just $2, whereas the official version will cost something in the region of $200, so these devices save cash and are eco friendly too.
