New vehicles are not 100% clear of defects nowadays and sadly the much ballyhooed Chevy Volt is one of them. A vehicle that stands to help offer a viable alternative for people seeking alternative energy powered vehicles, the Chevy Volt has been cleared by the National Highway Safety Administration of defects which could damper EV safety issues.
It seems that prior to the clearing of the Volt, battery packs were reportedly a cause for concern that could set the vehicle on fire. All these occurred during the crash testing phases of the Chevy Volt.
But just the same, General Motors knows how the whole issue has impacted demand for the vehicle. GM has offered to buy back Chevy Volts from customers who feel that the EV was not safe. The whole issue has severely dampened the company’s sales target and may need more to gain back the trust of car buyers to offset the unfortunate incident.
