Planes are one of the many innovations that have caught the eye of alternative energy developing people and today we find one which is acclaimed to be the most powerful electric powered plane yet. The aircraft comes from Pipistrel, something which can seat four people.
Taking just four months to build compared to another aircraft called the Taurus G4, which required 2 years to prepare and develop. The electric aircraft features an aerodynamic design which connects two Taurus G2 lightweight gliders that have 15 ft. wide electric engines.
The Taurus Electro G4 will be present at NASA’s 2011 Green Flight Challenge and will be up against at 13 other teams for the $1.65 million in prize money. A lot of participants are expected to fly in from as far as 200 miles in less than two hours using the energy equivalent of less than one gallon of gasoline per occupant.
