Tesla continues to improve on its energy efficiency ratio as far as its electric cars is concerned and the latest news on that is that the company has patented their latest car battery that can reportedly allow the electric cars to travel by as much as 400 miles per charge.
It is no secret that mileage and battery life have become an issue for EV owners and Tesla may yet extend the battery life with the new patented energy source. The issue hopes to resolve the 100 mile limit that EVs usually have with the new hybrid lithium-ion and metal-air battery pack that Tesla has recently patented.
The hybrid battery will rely on the more expensive, but more durable lithium-ion component for short-term travel, switching only to the metal-air battery for longer trips. The metal-air battery has a shorter lifetime when exposed to regular charging, but is less costly to produce.
