The World Solar Challenge is an event that tries to solicit the best from wise geeks annually, particularly solar powered cars. Among the regular participants include the Aurora Solar Car but this time they are taking the lead in sponsoring the said event with the hopes of seeing more new solar vehicle designs.
But the winner in the 2011 billing of the World Solar Challenge is the Mazda Solaris. The vehicle features an odd and unusual shape. This includes a low-sitting body and a large surface area which makes is easier for solar cells to be installed.
While it is far from being a traditional family car or something you would use daily, it is a transport solution that comes with eco-friendly intent. It was designed to glide along the desert floor at 150 km/hr (about 93 MPH) and it seems curious how it would far on usual streets and roads.
