The search for more and reliable batteries to back the electric vehicles out there continue and today, car manufacturer Volvo announces its new battery technology which interestingly makes use of the vehicle body and capacitors to generate juice.
The new technology aims to improve the energy storing capacity of EV batteries, making it more efficient and giving vehicles better range as far as travel is concerned.
Energy regeneration from the brakes is used to charge a material made of polymer resin and carbon fibers, which is moulded into shapes that can be implemented into the car’s larger design. The capacitors are then set within the “component skin.”
But perhaps the best part of it all is that Volvo’s new technology offers rapid charging compared to others, a feature that will surely be music to the ears of EV owners out there.
