Wishbone Bike

by Brian Yalung on Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

It is customary to get your child a bike at some point in their childhood. But today, it is not as simple. Rather than choose a bike based on design and features, considering the eco-friendliness that bikes have should also be considered.

So if you are planning to get a brand new kid’s bike, the Wishbone Bike from Skip Hop could be a wise choice.

Skip Hop’s Wishbone Bike looks like it will do just that. Starting at age one, your tot can push along using all three wheels to get used to feeling of “cycling”. Once they’ve figured that out, make it a two-wheeler. Finally, as baby grows, flip the frame over so that your toddler is comfy up there.

  • This bike looks cute, but it lacks bells and whistles. I would love to see a parent that can buy this for his kid and get away with it ;)

We actually own this bicycle and my 26 month old LOVES it (as does nearly everyone that we encounter in our neighborhood). We bought it when he was 18 months old (26 months, now) and he hopped right on at that time and got going. We've used it as his primary mode of transport every since then - while running errands or hanging around the neighborhood. This has saved us from having to purchase a double stroller (only 18 months age difference between my boys). The costs are similar, I realize, but this tri-bi-cycle is well worth it for us in teaching balance from such a young age, to instilling confidence in our son to get around the streets 'by himself.'

  • This is great news for people who are gearing towards going "green". Am too is into this campaign and we should start it in our own home.
