King Penguins on the Brink of Extinction

King Penguins

Thanks to global warming those lovable creatures we see on television, the King Penguins, are now on the verge of impending extinction thanks to global warming that has been hitting the Antarctic region. A lot has to do with the declining sea temperatures to which they are not used to. Because of this, they are forced to travel farther for food and seek the proper climate to soothe their needs.

Their numbers are declining and unless some alternative means to help save them is done, we may see them as a thing of the past.

“We wanted to see what effect climate change was having on the breeding and survival of the penguins,” said lead study author Yvon Le Maho, research director at the National Center for Scientific Research in Strasbourg, France.

The study appears today in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Polar Bear Species Endangered

Polar Bear Paws

Polar bears, those furry white creatures usually stocked up in the Arctic have long been tagged as endangered and while official announcements are to be made soon, it is not really surprising. Rather, the more serious issue is how to help them rather than watch them drown.

Technically, it has been man made. They are not the hunted game animals but the continuous disregard of man on the effects of his actions towards global warming through pollution has made it evident that the polar ice caps are indeed melting. And while they are out somewhere relaxing, the heat is up there and the actual victims are the polar bears which are now joining the list of animals on the endangered list.

The LA Times says the ruling on the bear’s endangered status could come as soon as this week, perhaps making it the “first species to be listed as threatened with extinction primarily because of global warming. It also says that groups representing oil and gas industry parties are threatening their own legal actions should the bear actually be listed.

Listing down the Endangered Species

We often treat them as food or creatures to hunt down. We see them in movies and in places where we are able to travel. However, it remains that the time may come where we may not even see them anymore and all will be a figment of our imagination.

If you are asked on how many endangered species you know of, chances are you may only name a few. It would be best to take note of them and don’t be surprised if you come across animals you didn’t think were being threatened of extinction.

Japanese Salmons Feel the Heat

Japanes Salmons Global Warming

Global warming is not purely about seeing polar ice caps melting one by one and reading of disasters that have befallen most parts of the world. Remember, global warming also extends as far as manifesting the welfare of the creatures living along the shore lines and for this Asian country, it is feeling the heat of impact of global warming as far as their salmon industry is concerned.

Just like humans, sea creatures as the Japanese salmon will feel the effects of the global warming trauma. Remember that they are living in the lines of nature’s affected anatomy and known to be prime resources for a growing Asian tiger’s economy, salmon may soon be seen as the next problem that has to be dealt with.

(Source) Based on a report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that was released just this past November, projections are that the Earth’s average temperature could rise by as much as 43.52 degrees Fahrenheit by the end of the century, which in turn would create unsuitable river water temperatures for young salmon to mature. In the meantime, in some areas of Japan, there’s been a noticeable decline in numbers of salmon making their way back rivers after being out to sea, where they spend about 2 to 7 years of their life.

Apparently fur is eco friendly!

I just know that this is going cause problems! But the Fur Council of Canada are actually promoting fur as a real eco friendly product, well fancy that! Here is what they say:

furtrade

To be considered “green” or “environmentally-friendly”, apparel and accessories should be made from natural materials that are:

Renewable

Durable, long-lasting HYPERLINK “http://furcouncil.com/recyclable.aspx”

Reusable, recyclable

Biodegradable

Non-polluting, non-toxic

Energy efficient in their production, use and disposal

So if you go along with what they are saying then you had better get out and buy one! Well clearly we wont be doing that very soon, and the very thought that the fur trade are simply doing a green job is just totally wrong.

Climate Change Will Lead to Extinction

Climate Change

Climate change is something that has drawn various concerns all over the world and with this new discovery based on studies, it is apparent that people will understand that even human existence may soon be imperiled along with plant and animal life.

Just think of it. How can anyone live on a planet that provides intolerable climates? Even if people would be able to adjust at times, there will come a point where they have to adjust accordingly and precisely but this cannot be a standard practice.

We all know the little contributions we can make to avoid this tragedy from occurring. However, the problem lies in the fact that the effort requires a little bit more. This only goes to show that the world still has a lot of ground to cover and combat the climate change syndrome that is evident today.
