Green Products for Green Pets

Green Pets

If you happen to see some green or organically made stuff for your pet, don’t be a bit surprised. A lot of it stems from the fact that even the pets are now targets for green living and it all starts from accessories all the way down to the food that they digest. Just when you think that people could care less for their pets, there are a lot of people out there who value them in as much as they value their own lives.

Some say that they are simply helping out the environment and contributing towards the welfare of the world. Commendable as it may, we all know for a fact that some people have their priorities and normally, contributions come towards what the basic necessities are in living properly today.

Earthdoggy.com is one of at least a dozen online retailers specializing in environmentally friendly pet products. The store carries everything from natural peanut butter-flavoured dog cookies to eco-friendly plush squeaky toys. Their top seller is a $120 dog bed made from recycled materials and printed with low-impact dyes, and a $75 organic cotton quilt designed to protect car seats from pet hair is so popular it’s out of stock.

Bodenstein says she sells environmentally friendly accessories for all facets of a pet’s life, from snout to tail - even biodegradable plastic baggies for picking up dog poop.

“A green product helps the planet no matter what it is,” Bodenstein said. “If you’re going to buy a collar or a dog bed anyway, why not pick an earth-friendly one?”

Save the Birds from Extinction

Bird Extinction

Bird hunting or game hunting as most of us are familiar with has become increasingly under scrutiny since wild life preservation is something that goes along with the environmental factors included in safeguarding the rights of animals we have today. Bird hunting has been tagged as a past time to which people find relaxation and challenge. However, while the intent may not be really identified, it remains that you are contributing towards the growing number of extinct animals the world knows of today.

Birds are of different species and if we itemize them one by one, we would be surprised at the number of known species per category living today. It has come apparent that we need to take each animal seriously and if we value their presence, we should consider the potential impact it would have as far as our drive for animal extinction today.

(Source) The Audubon Society urges everyone to join. Experience is not required. Shotguns must be left at home, which may exclude quail hunter Dick Cheney.

“Each of the citizen scientists who braves snow, ice, wind or rain to take part in the Christmas Bird Count is making an enormous contribution to conservation,” said Geoff LeBaron, director of the program. “Counting is the first step in learning how environmental threats are affecting our birds — and in helping to protect them.”
