World’s First Eco-friendly Formula 3 Racing Car

We have seen a lot of cars come out, powered by alternative fuel but this car is practically being run by things you will see in a kitchen! Imagine a car that can be powered by chocolate, steered by carrots and a body made from potatoes. The car may as well be called the kitchen race car!

Such was the accomplishment of researchers over at the University of Warwick. They will be appearing on BBC’s Blue Peter show on October 13, to demo the said car. The show will be transmitted at 4.35 pm on BBC1 On Tuesday 13th October. Be sure to catch this new eco-friendly racing car right on national television.

BMW Set to Unveil Eco Sports Car

BMW has announced that it has plans to unveil an eco-friendly sports car this September. The eco-friendly sports car is the EfficientDynamics Vision which will be shown first at the Frankfurt Motorshow. The concept of the EfficientDynamics Eco Sports car was borrowed from the GINA concept which was likewise recently revealed.

If the new car continues innovations such as the fabric skin developed for the GINA, BMW may be the first of the major automakers to seriously pursue the Hypercar strategy of ultra-light automobile design suggested by theorists such as Avory Lovins at the Rocky Mountain Institute. This would represent a break, albeit only in concept car form, from the more incremental approach to weight reduction that seems to have ruled industry thinking up to this time.

BMW Set to Unveil Eco Sports Car

Toyota Starts Focus on Cash for Clunkers Program

Most car dealers are now coming out with their list of cars eligible for the Cash for Clunkers program. Included in that batch is Toyota which has officially revealed its lineup of cars which consumers can consider getting after trading in their vehicle. There are 25 Toyota models offered which will qualify for car rebates ranging from $3,500 to $4,500.

The program will start today until November 1 or until they last. All Toyota and Scion passenger cars and most Toyota trucks, vans and SUVs are eligible for government incentives under the program. In addition, some Lexus models also qualify.

For the interested parties, you can check out the Toyota website to see the complete list of qualifying models. You can also make the necessary computations for what car you are trading in versus the Toyota model you plan on buying or leasing.

Volvo Hybrid Double Deck Buses Hit London

London transportation gets a thumbs up with the new Volvo double deck buses that have been officially unveiled. These new hybrid double-decker buses make their debut at the Alexandra Palace, signaling the start of eco-friendly transportation that are tasked to render service to Arriva London.

A total of six Volvo B5L Hybrid Double Deck buses have recently entered service on Route 141 in the UK’s capital city and representatives from Volvo Bus and Arriva London, together with other stakeholders gathered to formally mark another historic occasion at the Alexandra Palace.

The new Hybrid Double Deck buses offer savings both in terms of fuel consumption and emissions. Evidence from test tack development and in service field trials with Arriva London show significant savings in fuel consumption and carbon dioxide (C02) emissions as well as reduction in Nitrous Oxides and particulates.

You’ve heard the phrase “It ain’t rocket science”? Well, actually it is. Ichiro Sugioka is the science officer at the Volvo Monitoring and Concept Center in California, and has a PhD in aeronautical engineering.

The Volvo ReCharge is his project.

This plug-in hybrid with a small internal combustion engine for backup goes beyond the current competition in economy and efficiency.

It can travel 60 miles on a three-hour charge, and from zero to 60 mph in about nine seconds. Carbon emissions are expected to be less than half that of any other hybrid out there now, and the cost to drive it should be eighty percent less than any fossil-fuel powered car. The ReCharge has an electric motor in each wheel – the ultimate four-wheel drive.

A lot of other innovations are in the works, and while it’s not quite a space ship, it sure looks like the future of travel on the ground. Zoom! Zoom!

Green Fuel Production to Expand

Expect the supply and sources of green fuel to further expand as US Biofuels Inc. is set to launch a major green fuel production with recent gains from 12 greenhouses. Each greenhouse will be constructed and renovated for the purpose of growing algae in a closed system, using the photobioreactor (PBR) process for the production of Biofuel.

What is a PBR?

PBR is a bioreactor, which includes some kind of light source. Really any clear, translucent container could be called a PBR, but the term is more commonly used to define a closed system, as opposed to an open tank or pond. This system allows more species to be grown at a faster rate, extending the growing season, and if heated it can produce all year round.

US Biofuels looks forward to producing biofuel all year round from these greenhouses and hopes to complete the construction and renovations of the greenhouses by 2010. After which they anticipate to produce over 4 million gallons of biodiesel gas just from these 12 greenhouses alone

US Biofuels is also currently researching new strains of algae to better manufacture more precise mixtures for products such as jet fuel and other special use products. Planning to open a chain of 145 resale locations throughout the nation, US Biofuels looks forward to producing alternative fuels and help America achieve a greener, cleaner environment.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Becoming Green Alternative

Toyota does not have to prove that its eco-friendly responsibilities are always present in vehicles that they offer. And now, it looks like the UK people are acknowledging that need, looking at the Toyota Urban Cruiser as a viable vehicle to consider.

The car is for those who want the rugged four by four feeling without the ‘Chelsea Tractor’ image and is a softer alternative to the Toyota Land Cruiser. Aimed at singles and couples in their thirties and forties, rival models include the Suzuki SX4, the Kia Soul and the much-publicised Nissan Qashqai.

Two models are currently available; the two-wheel drive 1.3 litre petrol and the four-wheel drive 1.4 litre diesel. Both models produce around a humble 130g/km of CO2 and with the Toyota ‘Optimal Drive’ feature, official fuel figures are an impressive 51.4-mpg for the petrol and 57.6-mpg combined for the diesel.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Becoming Green Alternative

Fuel Lock Program from Hyundai and Pricelock Announced

There is a new program that aspiring car owners and fuel consumption saver people may want to check out, courtesy of Hyundai and Pricelock. The two companies have come up with a new program which will lock the price of fuel to $1.49 per gallon for a year on select new car models under the Hyundai brand.

For the Hyundai program, Pricelock will issue car buyers fuel cards, similar to credit cards, which drivers will use to purchase gasoline at any of the 165,000 participating gas stations, approximately 93% of all service stations in the U.S. Using the Pricelock card, the car buyer will be charged $1.49 per gallon for fuel, regardless of the price on the pump.

Of course, if the pump price is below $1.49 per gallon, the cardholder will not use the fuel card, but instead will pay the lower pump price using cash or a credit or debit card and still be able to participate in the upside.

Fuel Lock Program from Hyundai and Pricelock Announced

Eco-Friendly Supermini Being Developed by Aston Martin

There are a lot of things the Supermini is. In fact, you may even call its overall structure as already eco-friendly, being a compact vehicle that seems to be a motorist’s choice for fuel consumption savings. However, it looks like Aston Martin will improve on the Supermini, combining sporty looks in a magnificent compact car level. The 1.0 hatchback which they are calling the Cygnet which accelerate from 0 to 60 seconds in 14.7 seconds. Whoa!

The car will be eligible for the cheapest tax band thanks to its low emissions. The car is based on Toyota’s IQ city car but is given the Aston Martin makeover with a sporty grille, alloy wheels, and luxury interior.

The Cygnet will cost a fraction of its high-powered siblings, such as the £160,000 DBS, by selling for around the £20,000 mark.

Avoid rapid starts and stops. This is not only safe, but it can save more than $1 per gallon, according to the U.S. EPA. While improving fuel economy by up to 33 percent.

These may seem like common and simple tips but practicing them is different. Be aware of your driving prowess. Being and eco-friendly driver can save more for you than it can for society.

The new fuel cells back the new UK car which is said to be better than most hybrid and electric cars in the market today. It can consume only 360 miles to the gallon and could be made available to consumers for just 200 pounds Sterling ($315) per month.

Developed by Riversimple, the small city car integrates a 6kW fuel cell from Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies. The vehicle maximizes energy efficiency by utilizing lightweight composite materials, eliminating heavy mechanical component, and by networking fuel cells with ultra capacitors and 60% regenerative braking energy into one symbiotic system. The result is ground-breaking: 240 miles (390 km) can be traveled on one small tank of hydrogen weighing only 2.2 lbs (1 kilogram).

When you talk about price and alternative fuel or transportation, this supposed secret car does seem enticing. With the growing rant for other forms of potential vehicle preference, this latest top secret car certainly promises a lot. Best of all, it has a ready supply of fuel cells to back it up!

Drive sensibly. Speeding, rapid acceleration (jackrabbit starts), and rapid braking can lower gas mileage by 33% at highway speeds.
Use cruise control and overdrive gear. Cruise control cuts fuel consumption by maintaining a steady speed during highway driving. Overdrive gear, when appropriate, reduces engine speed, saves gas, and reduces engine wear.
It’s a “drag.” Avoid carrying items on your vehicle’s roof. A loaded roof rack or carrier increases weight and aerodynamic drag, which can cut mileage by 5%. Place items inside the trunk when possible to improve fuel economy.
Turn down the AC. Operating the air conditioner on “Max” can reduce mpg by 5-25% compared to not using it.
Avoid idling, which gets 0 mpg. Cars with larger engines typically waste even more gas while idling than cars with smaller engines.
Navigate with a GPS system. GPS systems can help you find your way and, increasingly, GPS programs can search for low-priced gas at nearby stations.
Fill up before returning rental. Rental car companies charge higher gas prices if you don’t fill up the tank before returning the vehicle. Keep your gas receipts in case the company requires them to remove a gas surcharge.

“Over repeated UDDS cycles, the Sungate EP glazing reduced the air conditioning power and resulted in an increase in fuel economy,” said John Rugh, Senior Mechanical Engineer for NREL. “The adjusted, utility factor-weighted fuel economy increased from 36.8 to 42.9 mpg for the Sungate EP thermal load case, while the adjusted, UF-weighted electrical energy consumption was roughly equivalent.”

Hyundai is gaining a reputation for its aggressive approach in the motoring industry. Now being among the top sellers in the United States, Hyundai Motors adds another attractive vehicle in its fold with the Addition of the Hyundai Accent eco, a new vehicle that runs on LPG fuel.

The new passenger car has been priced at Rs 533,900 which is Rs 34,900 more than its existing petrol model. It is fitted with an engine immobilizer as a standard fitment for added security.The new Accent eco is equipped with a LPG kit and powered by a 1.5 liter engine. It has a manual transmission which should all the more balance the proper consumption of fuel important for motorists today.

With separate Petrol (45 Litre) and LPG (27.2 litre) fuel tanks, the customers has an option to choose from both LPG and petrol driving mode. The LPG tank in the Accent eco has a special ‘Toroidal’ design that allows intelligent use of space and makes for a larger luggage room available to the customer.

In what U.S. President Barack Obama feels may have been a waste of money, the $1.2 Billion development fund for a fuel cell-powered car that was a brainchild of the previous Bush Administration has been junked.

The issue of fuel cells has been a contentious one, with many believing the technology is of dubious benefit when battery-electric cars offer a far simpler solution. The USA’s newly-minted President agrees, and last Thursday scrapped the fuel cell funding plan set up by former President George W. Bush in 2003.

Instead, President Obama plans to spend just US$68.2 million on fuel cell research – less than half the amount spent last year. With Bush’s US$1.2 billion plan in the bin, a further US$100 million will be saved each year. In contrast, the Bush administration spent a total of $500 million in automotive fuel cell research, with limited results and no prospect of wide-scale adoption of the technology in the near future.

Battery-electrics are the new darling of the Obama administration, with Energy Secretary Steven Chu saying the government wanted to target more “immediate energy-saving solutions”.

This Car Runs on Chocolate Bio-Diesel

The search for alternative fuel options is still on and while many motorists are being shown algae based biofuels, hybrids, electric cars and even hydrogen powered cars, this car reportedly runs on chocolate bio-diesel. Now that is something new for motorists for transportation needs.

This story from TG Daily says researchers at the University of Warwick in the UK have now built a Formula 3 racing car capable of taking corners at 125 mph… running on biodiesel made from chocolate:

The car meets all Formula 3 racing standards except for its biodiesel engine, which is configured to run on fuel derived from waste chocolate and vegetable oil. Formula 3 cars currently cannot use biodiesel. The team hopes to enter it in some sort of race soon, though, said [project manager James] Meredith.

Components made from plants form the mainstay of the car’s make up, including a race specification steering wheel derived from carrots and other root vegetables, a flax fibre and soybean oil foam racing seat, a woven flax fibre bib and plant oil-based lubricants.

The biodiesel engine is configured to run on fuel derived from waste chocolate and vegetable oil. It also incorporates a radiator coated in a ground-breaking emission destroying catalyst.

The program raises awareness about how to be an EcoDriver and aims to be the first-ever carbon neutral Indy team.

Practicing EcoDriving produces the highest mileage from every single vehicle, regardless of size or age–potentially affecting the United States’ entire fleet of 245 million automobiles.

As a result, the possible benefits of the program are significant. Many fuel-saving EcoDriving practices are surprisingly simple, such as:

The U.S. Department of Transportation estimates that using cruise control for 10,000 of the miles driven in a year could save a driver nearly $200 and more than 60 gallons of fuel.
Observing the speed limit and not exceeding 60 mph, where legally allowed, can improve mileage by up to 23 percent.
Traffic lights are often synchronized so that a motorist driving at a specific speed will pass through a series of green lights without stopping. Driving at a steady speed can help drivers avoid red lights, therefore keeping their vehicles moving more efficiently.

But what the Insight lacks in the MPG department, it makes up for in price and “driveability”. Setting aside comparisons for a minute, the Insight does deliver an impressive 40/43 mpg, which is still better than most cars on the road.

The Insight Hybrid is definitely a competitor to the Toyota Prius and makes for an interesting showdown in the exciting hybrid vehicle market.

CNG Fueling Station Launched

PetrolCard has announced the opening of a “Clean N’ Green Fuel” compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station in South Seattle, the first public-access CNG facility in the city. For businesses and consumers with CNG-compatible vehicles, the facility offers a readily available, affordable, and environmentally friendly fuel. The station, which is open 24/7 accepts all major credit cards and PetroCard fleet cards, and sells CNG at prices typically one-third below gasoline and diesel.

CNG is sold in gasoline gallon equivalents (GGEs), with each GGE having the same energy content as a gallon of gasoline. Vehicles using CNG typically have similar or better fuel economy ratings than standard gasoline or diesel vehicles, and today CNG is approximately one-third lower in price. The Clean N’ Green Fuel station will sell CNG to business fleets, including Waste Management, as well as individuals with CNG equipped vehicles. Current pricing at the station is in the range of $1.70-$1.80/GGE.

Ford Vehicles Included in Top 10 Green Cars List

Ford gets the nod of the Kelly Blue Book as two of its vehicles have been included in the Top 10 Green Cars list. Today, editors of Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com named the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid and 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid to its 2009 list of “Top 10 Green Cars.”

“This recognition says strong things about Ford as a hybrid manufacturer,” said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book and kbb.com. “What we really like about both the Fusion and Escape Hybrids is that they do everything great hybrids should do – in terms of providing excellent fuel economy – but at the same time, they drive like conventional vehicles.”

Nerad says fuel economy was just one of the factors editors of Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com took into consideration when selecting this year’s list of “Top 10 Green Cars.”

“We go beyond fuel economy and powertrain, and we look at things that people generally look at when buying any car, such as comfort, convenience, safety and value for the money,” he said.

Ford Hybrid Marketing Manager David Finnegan says winning two of the 10 spots on kbb.com’s “Top 10 Green Cars” list for 2009 demonstrates Ford’s versatility as a hybrid manufacturer.

“We are continuing to expand our portfolio to offer consumers a wider range of alternatives,” said Finnegan. “Not only do we have the most fuel-efficient SUV on the planet with the Ford Escape Hybrid but we also are committed to being a leader in the car segment. The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid provides 41 mpg in city driving and 36 mpg on the highway, making it North America’s most fuel-efficient midsize sedan.”

Launching a new line for your own personal company is normal. However, when it is General Motors, a lot of questions are brought to the forefront. Like for one, how can they afford it? Remember that GM is in tough times and may be close to filing for bankruptcy despite the financial bailout plan that seems to have been a waste of money. Regardless, GM Australia has announced a new breed of cars that will fall under the EcoLine niche.

The EcoLine vehicles will highlight the companies use of alternative fuels, fuel saving technology, and hybrid and electric models. Initially, the EcoLine of vehicles will include diesels, liquified petroleum cars, and vehicles with active fuel management systems that can cut power to cylinders to save gas. In 2010, Holden will introduce an E85 vehicles into its lineup.

But the big news is that GM’s Holden group will introduce the extended range Chevy Volt electric vehicle in Australia in 2012. The Australian automotive market appears to be behind most of the world in terms of advanced engines and low emissions. The technologies introduced by the EcoLine such as E85, cylinder deactivation, advanced diesels, are all available in the U.S. and most have been for years.

Australia’s demand for fuel efficient vehicles may be behind the times, but a Chevy Volt will be a big step towards lower emissions and acceptance of hybrid and electric vehicles in the country.

Davao City Honing Up E-Tricycle Production

In what was not viewed to bloom into a business with demand, Davao-based DC Electric Vehicle Group in the Philippines is showing an emerging toss-up between maintaining tradition and adopting technological revolution in the Southern Mindanao city’s transport industry.

Laborers in this city’s Sasa district have been working hard to assemble four-wheel electric vehicle prototypes: a two-seater car and a converted jiffy, both with automatic transmission system. Within the compound of DC Electric Vehicle Corp., six other electric tricycles have been assembled for sale within the next few days. First-time visitors might notice the limited manpower in the assembly line, but “you do not need an army to build the vehicles the way they are designed,” said plant manager Albert N. Ybañez.

“It’s not really complicated. There are only 36 pieces on an electric tricycle and one person can build one [unit] in just eight hours,” he said.

Nobody thought that it would be a business Mr. Ybañez would start up. He has no background in engineering and engine details, but rather a history as a chef. He is adept at cooking oriental dishes and has worked as a chef overseas for many years.

DC Electric’s push for its project is anchored on the central government’s programs to promote an environment-friendly transport industry. The Biofuels Act has recognized the need to develop alternative mode of transportation, including hybrid cars.

The Alternative Fuel Vehicles Act of 2004 gives incentives to hybrids “to promote the manufacture, importation, sale, distribution, use and development of hybrid or alternative fuel vehicles in furtherance of the objectives of Republic Act 8749 or the Clean Air Act.”

This applies to the top end of the market too. The Audi 3.0 litre engine will run on gas and come with the addition of a hybrid battery pack weighing around 160 pound to provide electrical power.

Everyone is familiar with this sleek MPV from Toyota, the Innova. And while they continue to be sold like crazy, Toyota has announced a new model that is more fuel-efficient. The new model is the Toyota Innova CNG.

Toyota Innova comes powered with a 1998 cc, 16V DOHC VVTi petrol engine.

The Japanese company feels that the duel fuel option would offer buyers a more cost-effective and environment friendly driving choice.

The Innova, launched in India in 2005, is one of the most selling MPV. Its also much hyped for its comfort.

With CNG having established itself as an eco-friendly, reliable and economic fuel, TKM is pleased to announce India’s first ever energy efficient MPV in India. This new car concept from Rinspeed boss Frank M. Rinderknecht looks like a traditional sports car only that it can accommodate up to three persons. The continuous development of solar powered vehicles continue but this sporty looking car called the Rinspeed iChange still aims to satisfy the rants of fuel efficiency.

The Rinspeed iChange is a sports car that can change from being a one-seater to a three-seater in a few seconds. It’s a simple process really – with the push of a button, the rear end of the car lifts up, allowing room for two people to sit in the back. The two rear seats are always present behind the driver, but only become sit-able when the rear section of the vehicle lifts up.

The iChange is also very light (1,050 kilograms) and runs on an electric motor, further proving this is meant to be a fuel-efficient one-seater first and foremost. That being said, the electric motor can propel the car to a top speed of 220 km/h and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in ’slightly over four seconds’ according to the company. The iChange uses a six-speed transmission used in the Subaru WRX.

Hyundai Unveils 2010 i30 iBlue Cars at Geneva Auto Show

Hyundai has unveiled another green vehicle in the 2010 i30 iBlue which combines existing technologies in innovative ways to show what can be done to make a green car today.

By increasing motor efficiency, reducing driveline friction, focusing on aerodynamics, including stop-start ignition, employing low-rolling-resistance tires and lowering the suspension, the i-blue treatment ekes every last bit of efficiency out of the available framework.

The new model will feature an engine stop-start system from Germanys Bosch, which uses an advanced starter motor connected to the ECU. It is joined by low-rolling resistance tires and a few aerodynamic enhancements. The end result is a 15% reduction in fuel consumption in city driving and a 7% reduction on the highway compared with the standard i30.

BMW launches Eco-Friendly Hybrid Supercar

It looks like while BMW has been quiet about its eco-friendly and environmental contributions to motoring, it is about to launch one soon. And the eco-friendly hybrid car will carry efficient dynamics owing to its model name, the BMW Z10 ED. Among the features of this hybrid supercar is the fuel-saving technology embedded on to it. It also includes a stop-start system, an integrated starter/generator and a new brake energy regeneration system modified to store energy in a lithium-ion battery.

The Z10 ED is said to be equipped with a new generation, direct-injection turbocharged straight-six engine producing around 400HP. Power will be channeled to the rear wheels via BMW’s new seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

No word on when this hybrid will come out although sources say it will be at one of the international auto shows coming soon.

Bio Fuels Closes Schools

During the winter occasionally, you expect the school to be closed because of the bad weather etc, but because of the rise in the use of bio fuels in school buses, the cold weather has been taking its toll on the smooth running of the engines.

This is because Minnesota state requires that a minimum of two per cent bio diesel in school buses, but when the temperature reaches -10F the fuel has a tendency to turn into a gel type substance and as a result the engine will not run. Yet this problem is set to get worse because before 2015 the State will be requiring a twenty per cent bio diesel concentration.

Bio Fuels Closes Schools

Fuel-Less Eco-friendly Engine in India

Though it is not really made for commercial use, it looks like a couple was able to tinker around with an engine that only needs a water pump that can run for five years without interruption. The engine was developed by Kanishka Sinha and his wife Lipika in Kolkata.

“This engine is switched on by a chemical reaction between zinc and oxygen; hence it is pollution-free. This technology also increases the durability of the engine,” Kanishk Sinha, chairman of the Jasper Motor Vehicle company. The engines can be used in 4-wheelers, three wheelers and water pumps.

The couple has registered their company in the US five years ago with Rs. 1 billion raised from NRIs. They have also got their engine patented with BigPatents India, a body supported by Ford Foundation.

This is great idea for those place where fresh and clean water is in limited supply, simply because it looks like a standard water container, but once filled with ten litres of water the sun does the rest of the work for you.

There is an indicator which shows a red or green face, green is good and when the indicator is on green there the water inside is ready to drink, this process will take anything between three and four hours depending on how contaminated the water is.

Solar Powered Water Purifier

Benz Concept BlueZERO

Mercedes Benz has introduced a new car concept, the Benz Concept BlueZERO vehicle. With a small hatchback and big interior room this car can accommodate up to 5 passengers. Though only 14 feet long, it also comes equipped with eco-friendly powertrains for wiser mileage and drive.

The powertrains for the BlueZERO ride beneath a sandwich-style floor like those used on the Euro-market A-Class and B-Class. They include an E-CELL electric powertrain with liquid-cooled lithium-ion batteries produced by Daimler AG and a driving range of 125 miles; an F-CELL fuel-cell version with 250 miles of driving range; and a range-extended E-CELL PLUS powertrain that could have a range of 375 miles, 60 of them driving on battery power alone.

All three can scoot to 60 mph in about 11 seconds, and all have a limited top speed of 93 mph.

Benz Concept BlueZERO

Eric Massa Arriving in Fuel Cell Car

On whether his intent is to gain attention or simply to help promote green awareness, Eric Massa, congressman-elect left from the Southeast Steuben County Library will be arriving in Washington D.C. on a GM Hydrogen fuel cell car to the capital building. Now that is quite an entrance and a statement as far as his stand on eco-friendly transportation.

Massa aims to affirm his support for building sustainable vehicles, perhaps due to environmental concerns and to uphold the importance of domestically made car vehicles. Massa will be officially sworn into office this Tuesday.

“I wanted to highlight the strengths that we have right here in Upstate New York to build the new industries and the new jobs we’re going to need in the future,” said Massa.

Morocco Takes out Sulphur in Diesel for Better Fuel

By taking out the sulphur in their diesel fuel, Morocco expects a vast improvement as far as its carbon emissions and pollution problems are concerned. This was announced as Morocco will be gradually introducing the “cleaner diesel” in their transition period until April of this year.

With this development comes the issue of pricing. This is one concern that Moroccans are addressing at the moment as the price for the new and improved diesel fuel is expected to cost them a bit. Despite being just a couple of dirhams, local car owners running on diesel power feel that this may be a bit too much than their pockets can handle.

Then again, why own a car if you cannot handle the fuel costs? We experienced the same problem when the oil prices spiked more than 100% so a couple of dirhams should not really hurt.

“The new 50 ppm diesel went on sale on January 1st, 2009, replacing 350 diesel at its base price, which is 10.13 dirhams a litre”

Who ever thought that genuine human waste, otherwise known as poop-power would be put to good use? Though we don’t hear about it too much, the fact remains that human waste can be put to good use. And it seems that poop can be a good fuel alternative with extra power at that.

Animal waste has been proven to be a good alternative to powering vehicles. But from the looks of it, we can get more power from human poop once it has been stabilized and developed. See the video for yourself!

London To Get New Buses

When London got new major, we all expected to see some serious changes in the environment department, yet it seems that transport dominates the call for change along with the return of the old Route master double decker buses.

Therefore, a competition was set up and out of the seven hundred entries; two have been picked to go forward to the manufacturers where the final decision will be made. The toe designs are from Foster & Partners with Aston Martin and the other by Capoco. It looks as the famous Route master is coming back, but this time it will have zero emissions, solar panels, recycled materials, warm lighting and wooden floors.

Filling Up With Coffee

Now this has a couple of possibilities most people love a nice cup of coffee in the morning to get them going, but it is not that we are talking about. It seems that coffee not only produces a kick start in the morning it can also produce a very fine bio diesel too.

The good thing about this method of producing bio diesel is that it actually takes place after the coffee has been used. This means that all of those coffee shops around the world could be sitting on a potential gold mine as it is the oil that the grounds contain that can be used, you have to wonder though, does the exhaust smell like the inside of Starbucks?
