Only in Paris! That is perhaps what best describes this new trend of serving tourists and people who want to enjoy the beauty of Paris the eco-friendly way. The concept is from Left Bank Scooters. Called the Rent-a-Vespa, they offer Vespa Scooters (LXV models) for use and are delivered right at the hotel you are staying in. The deal comes complete with helmets and wet weather gear delivered right at your hotel.

The Vespas being offered for rent are brand new LXV Vespa models, something that should further entice tourists who want to get around Paris. At least this may save people cost in fuel (if they use cars) and provide them the freedom to go. Hopefully they have a GPS or map of the city, especially if they are not familiar with the geography of Paris.

Leo Motors Set To Unveil Electric Vehicles at Country Fair

Leo Motors gets the chance to market its line of electric vehicles at the San Diego County fair. The company will be highlighting vehicles for consumer viewing and potential deals. Among the vehicles to expect include the Leo-1000 and Hilless scooters. These products range in price from $2,900 to $4,000 and are eligible for the tax credits and deductions allowable for electric vehicles.

The event is expected to boost the sales and awareness for the company, something that has been proven from past years. To highlight Leo Motors, they have a standing purchase order of 3,000 Hilles scooters from South Korea which will be used as deliver service scooters. They are expected to launch their vehicles in the U.S. later this year.

“We are proud to introduce our zero emission electric scooters to the U.S. market at this historic venue,” said Dr. Robert Kang, President and CEO of Leo Motors, Inc. “Our scooters are the world’s first truly sustainable EV products offered in the scooter market. These are not electric toys; they are highly evolved EVs made possible as a result of Leo’s proprietary motor and battery technologies.”

Electric Scooters Now Availabe in Minnesota

The electric scooters have now landed in Minnesota, providing local communities with options on getting these electric scooters to cater to their transport needs. Proving to be a wise alternative to gas fueled scooters, you can bet that they can make it worth your while and save you a whole lot of money while addressing the eco-friendly issues popular today.

The smallest scooter will go about 30 miles on one charge. It has pedals that, if lightly pedaled, give the bike a little more energy and extends the battery charge. The cost of the smallest bikes range from $700 to $1,000 depending on accessories. The small scooter weighs just 100 pounds with the battery pack accounting for 40 pounds of the weight.

Big or small, the electric scooter mania has invaded Minnesota. At least now they have the options right there in their area. The next thing they may have to note is how many would be actually getting them. That makes all the difference from observing them. That remains to be seen!

Electric Scooters Now Availabe in Minnesota

It is fascinating to see what some concepts can do. It is likewise impressive what you can do once they are actually fiinished and perform as promised. That is perhaps what best sums up this brainchild of Richard Grzych, the person who conceptualized the solar flyer. The new bike is the Solar Flyer Motorbike which recharges while you are riding it. The bike can reportedly go as far as 50 miles at 90 mph.

Grzych also has plans to attach a trailer to the motorcycle, which would extend the bike’s range. Included in its haul would be four 12-volt deep cycle marine battery packs with a dozen additional solar film packs mounted to it. There would also be room for a plug-in charger, tools, chairs, cleaning supplies, cooler and anything else that might be needed for an all-day bike show.

The Solar Flyer Motorbike

Best Buy Will Start Selling Electric Bikes

While the demand is high, Best Buy may do well with this move that they will be carrying e-bikes for consumer demand. Best Buy will be piloting electric-powered personal transportation products at some stores on the West Coast later this spring. Initially, e-bikes by Currie Technologies and Ultra Motor will be available.

According to Bicycle Retailer Magazine, Currie Technologies will be supplying Best Buy with six different Izip models, ranging in price from $499-$2,000. The Southern California-based company will also provide Best Buy with two electric scooters at $299 and $599, according to Currie president Larry Pizzi.

Pizzi also added that these electric bikes will be sold in around twenty stores at first, but that a “larger roll out” was possible for around Christmas time.

This product is not available at Keetsa.

Giant unveils a new kind of electric scooter option with the launch of the e-Fem. The e-Fem is a cross between an e-bike and e-scooter and is a light e-Scooter which tends more towards electric bikes than to a big scooter.

It is, as Giant CEO Tony Lo indicated at the Shanghai Show to Bike Europe: “A light e-Scooter which tends more towards electric bikes than to a big scooter.

And as such it is an obvious continuation of our development in electric two-wheelers which we already for some years now are selling here in China.”

A New Kind of Electric Scooter Called e-Fem

Here is a great electric bicycle that can bring you to the extra mile. The GoCycle inhibits an eco-friendly injection of sorts. While there has been some progress, there remains a whole lot more work to be done in the long run. One of the ways to do your part is choosing green forms of transport, and the GoCycle electric bicycle is a decent option if you do plenty of intra-city travel.

This is the world’s lightest production electric bicycle, tipping the scales at just 16.2kg. Despite its small size, it is able to move you for around 20 miles before requiring a recharge, and at a top speed of 15mph to boot. Recharge time currently stands at 3.5 hours, and the £1,158 price point will come with a sealed-for-life chain, a decent suspension system to prevent sore buttocks and three-speed gearing.

GoCycle Electric Bicycle

Brammo Enertia Electric Motorcycle Now Available

Brammo has added a motorcycle line to its fine roster of electric vehicles. The Brammo Enertia is the first electric motorcycle capable of traveling at speeds in excess of 50 mph with a range of 35 to 45 miles per charge.

The Ashland-based company also announced several key hires, including John Farris, the company’s new director of marketing who previously was the marketing manager for General Motors’ Chevrolet Silverado brand.

Adrian Stewart joins Brammo as the director of channel development, leading the company’s retail strategy. He has previous experience with high-tech finance and start-ups, including stints at IBM, Kleinwort Benson and Dresdner Bank.

Roger Garson has joined the company as electrical engineering manager after a stint at Rhode Island-based scooter-maker Vectrix Electrics.

“The expertise of these new team members positions Brammo for industry leadership and will help us to accomplish our goals of helping create a new transportation segment that is both environment friendly and fun,” Brammo CEO Craig Bramscher said in a news release. “We’re looking forward to the opportunities ahead for the (electric vehicle) market and to driving sustainable innovation with this team.”

Brammo Enertia Electric Motorcycle Now Available

The government of Makati City Philippines is planning to go to the next level, taking off from where their first electric jeepneys started off. This time around, they will try to shift on e-trikes as a form of alternative form of public transport, a move that is geared towards an eco-friendly environmental setting.

A prototype of the “e-trike” was displayed after a motorcade of electrical-powered vehicles went around Metro Manila to promote clean air as part of yesterday’s Earth Day celebration. After a successful test run of the eight-seater e-trike called “Aerocab” which runs up to 85 kilometers per hour, city transportation consultant Ernesto Camarillo said Makati would soon acquire two of the vehicles.

“Once we complete the technical tests and the Land Transportation Office requirements, we’ll encourage tricycle drivers to shift to the Aerocab. We still have to check because it has to be competitive with regular tricycles [in terms of cost and maintenance],” he added.

He could not say, however, how much the locally manufactured Aerocab would cost although the e-trikes launched last year in Taguig City and Palawan ranged from P80,000 to P140,000 each. Taguig later bought nearly 200 e-trikes.

“The city has money for the environment, but the investment will be quite big,” Camarillo said.

E-Trikes to Be Used in Makati, Philippines

KLD Energy Technologies Aiming to Lead Eco-Two Wheelers

KLD Energy Technologies hopes that their efforts through their new electric motor can be the eco-savior of the two wheeled concept bikes. They are teaming up with the Vietnamese motorbike manufacturer Sufat to produce an affordable electric-powered scooter that has a performance just as good as a normal petrol powered bike.

Rather than looking at making batteries more efficient, KLD have improved the performance of the engine itself. They are building an engine using nano-crystalline composite materials, which the company believes makes it ten times more efficient than traditional iron core motors. This also gives it an output of 2500 hertz.

Together with a computerized motor control, the KLD engine is compatible with any type of battery. Top speed of the KLD scooter is about 55 mph, which is almost double that of many electric scooters and delivers twice as much torque, accelerating from 0 to 50 mph in ten seconds. The engine also doesn’t require a transmission.

By the end of the year KLD are aiming for 2,000 scooters a month to be produced by Sufat with their electric engine. The projected retail price is around $1500, only slightly more than Sufat’s existing bikes that sell in Vietnam for between $800 and $1250.

In what was not viewed to bloom into a business with demand, Davao-based DC Electric Vehicle Group in the Philippines is showing an emerging toss-up between maintaining tradition and adopting technological revolution in the Southern Mindanao city’s transport industry.

Laborers in this city’s Sasa district have been working hard to assemble four-wheel electric vehicle prototypes: a two-seater car and a converted jiffy, both with automatic transmission system. Within the compound of DC Electric Vehicle Corp., six other electric tricycles have been assembled for sale within the next few days. First-time visitors might notice the limited manpower in the assembly line, but “you do not need an army to build the vehicles the way they are designed,” said plant manager Albert N. Ybañez.

“It’s not really complicated. There are only 36 pieces on an electric tricycle and one person can build one [unit] in just eight hours,” he said.

Nobody thought that it would be a business Mr. Ybañez would start up. He has no background in engineering and engine details, but rather a history as a chef. He is adept at cooking oriental dishes and has worked as a chef overseas for many years.

DC Electric’s push for its project is anchored on the central government’s programs to promote an environment-friendly transport industry. The Biofuels Act has recognized the need to develop alternative mode of transportation, including hybrid cars.

The Alternative Fuel Vehicles Act of 2004 gives incentives to hybrids “to promote the manufacture, importation, sale, distribution, use and development of hybrid or alternative fuel vehicles in furtherance of the objectives of Republic Act 8749 or the Clean Air Act.”

Scooters are outselling cars today and it is apparent this is due to the more economical nature as far as fuel consumption is concerned. It also covers the area of lowering carbon emissions as scooters are known to emit lesser smoke.

But electric scooters are likewise on the rise and the Vectrix Electric Scooter is a clear example of that trend. The VX-2 is an entry-level bike and is the electric equivalent of a 50cc internal combustion engine bike. It weighs 429lbs and can get up to speeds of 80kmph.

It uses a 48V/20A battery charger that will work with a standard home socket and have your motorbike recharged fully in 3.5 to 5 hours.

“Electric vehicles are now providing a realistic alternative for people who use their bikes on a daily basis for short commutes like traveling into and out of town for work. It is great to see that there is a wider choice of these types of vehicles now available.”

Taiwan Should Try Electric Scooters

Taiwan can be seen as trying to resolve the fuel problem with their rampant turn towards the use of scooters but perhaps taking it up a notch by replacing them with the electric ones can really make them look eco-friendly.

Perhaps when they first thought of the scooter use, eco-friendliness was not yet that in talk as far as carbon emissions are concerned. But now, the reality is that aside from fuel, you have to address the pollution problem as well and when in Taiwan, you will notice that the atmosphere is different.

The shift towards lesser polluting scooters can indeed be helpful to their cause. They just have to realize that their air is not that safe at the moment if they continue with their current gas-powered scooters.

If there are electric vehicles, then there are electric bikes that are bound to be unveiled as well. Lohia Group did just that, unraveling two e-bikes powered by 250 Watt motor rechargeable battery that could also be charged with an inverter or generator.

“The highly-efficient bikes can go over 50 km per charge at a cost of only 10 paise a km. These easy-to-handle bikes have a maximum speed limit of 25 km an hour and no registration or licence or registration is required to drive them. High fuel prices and low maintenance cost are the main attractions that would boost sales of these eco-friendly bikes,”

Today, motorcycles and bikes have been the seen better alternative when it comes to going eco-friendly and thriving on fuel-efficiency. Nancy, a bike that runs on hydrogen and LPG, is a next generation bike that is bound to be sought after by most bike enthusiasts as far as alternative modes of transportation and style is concerned.

Nancy is in the works to be manufactured in Jamshedpur’s SSI hub, Adityapur Industrial Area. Once this bike hits the market, expect a lot of people trying to get their hands on it.

With an initial investment of Rs 75 crore, Ekta Telecommunication and Systems (ETS) plans to set up its unit over 2 acres in Adityapur. “Our proposal will be sent to the Adityapur Development Authority soon,” said company MD Neeraj Kumar Mishra.

“Nancy will also be equipped with a 25kg LPG cylinder kit. She will be a light, cheap and green vehicle that would be less polluting than her petrol counterparts available in the market,” he claimed.

Recycled Motorcycles into Alien Tables!

Legalizing the Three Wheeled Electric Vehicles

In some states such as Ohio, there are laws governing the proper classification of vehicles that can travel in their streets. The ideal definition of allowed vehicles does not include three wheeled vehicles like the Xebra Sedan, an electric powered vehicle that is sure to be a good way to stave off the growing pains of fuel and oil prices. In fact, they cannot be registered.

But with the call for alternative means of transportation that can be powered by something else other than the standard lead fuels, these three-wheeled vehicles similar to motorcycles are sure to be a good exemption to existing laws for the good of environmental and financial concerns in play today.

Federal standards classify most three-wheeled electric vehicles as motorcycles, but, as The Plain Dealer reported last month, the vehicles cannot be registered in Ohio.

Ohio’s definition of a motorcycle says it must have saddles, not seats, for drivers. The Bureau of Motor Vehicles pulled the title and registration of the first person in the state to register a Zap Xebra three-wheeler.

The motorcycle definition outlawed both the Xebra and Myers Motors’ NmG (no more gas) electric vehicles. Myers is a Tallmadge company that sells a single-passenger electric three-wheeler capable of hitting 76 mph.
