ASUS Designo MS Monitors Launched

As the world continues to look for better display peripherals, ASUS joins in delivering eye-catching visual displays with the announced launch of its ASUS Designo MS Monitors. They are ultra-slim and save a lot as far as space procurement is concerned.

These ASUS monitors are manufactured with 50% less hazardous materials and can be easily adjustable thanks to is spherical ring stand. They also come in an attractive glossy piano-black finish with delicate wave-like contours on the rear bezel complemented by a gleaming pearl-white finish.

As far as the display is concerned, it boasts of a 50,000:1 contrast ratio, a 2ms quick response time and makes use of ASUS Splendid Video Intelligence Technology. It even comes with an HDMI port to accommodate Blu-ray players for people looking at enjoyable movies to watch.

From the looks of it, this new LCD desktop monitor from NEC seems like any ordinary display device that will aid anyone in the business, educational or even personal use. This latest 23” desktop display is features a 16:9 widescreen monitor and an IPS panel which should provide outstanding viewing angles and image stability for users.

It also has an energy-saving feature with its ECO Mode along with automated brightness through an ambient light sensor which adjusts the display with the best brightness setting, saving significant energy.

The NEC EA231WMi will start shipping this month and carries an estimated SRP of $379.

You don’t have to be a electric hog to be able to enjoy the fruits of a great HDTV. Well for most of us that prefer branded ones, here is an alternative HDTV that uses its eco-friendly marketing point to carry its brand. The best thing about it is that although it is geared to being green, you will hardly notice the sacrifice in features and quality.

This 1080p LCD display comes with an Eco Mode that lets you control how much power it uses and the automatic light dimming uses up to 20% less than when it runs normally. In standby mode, the Loewe Art SL sucks just 0.7 watts. As you might expect, these power saving features don’t come cheap.

The basic model is £2,345. It’s available in 42″ or 47″ screen sizes and each purchase comes with a Freeview tuner and a 250GB HDR.

Mix power consumption with your home entertainment needs and this pairing becomes a sustainability issue that needs to be addressed. However, the LCD TV Association is gearing up for a shift towards a greener future in the world of LCD TVs. The LTA’s GreenTV logo program was launched last year in an effort to help focus LCD TV manufacturers and brands on reducing the power consumption of LCD TVs and raising consumer awareness of this important issue.

The program currently aims to work with major TV vendors to implement and promote ambient light sensors, which will automatically lower the set brightness in a dark room by decreasing power to the backlight — thus saving energy and actually reducing potential eyestrain as well. This can reduce power consumption by at least 30%, and as much as 60%, in current implementations.

Program participants are awarded the right to use the LTA’s unique GreenTV logo on products, packaging, marketing and advertising material to help consumers identify these specifically enabled and wonderfully featured sets.

Sharp Unveils Eco-Friendly LCD in Japan

Eco-friendly LCD TVs are apparently common these days and it looks like Sharp has taken the lead, well as far as the Japan region is concerned. Sharp has released the new AQUOS A Line-up, a series of 3 LCDs TV with a 40”, 42” and 52” LCD Full HD Panel (15000:1 contrast ratio and a brightness of 450cd/m2)… While this TVs are “fully loaded” (HDMI, 120Hz…) Sharp goal on this series was to drastically reduce their power consumption with an improved Backlight and overall power consumption system capable to bring to 175kWh/Year for the 52”, 145kWh/Year for the 46”, and only 120kWh/Year for the 40” model.

Price are to be expected around 200 000 yen (1535€) for the 40”, 260 000 yen (1995€) for the 46” and 390 000 yen (3990€) for the 52”.

Sharp Unveils Eco-Friendly LCD in Japan

Sony Launches Eco-Friendly Bravia WE5

Sony has unveiled another eco-friendly LCD TV with the Sony Bravia WE5. It said the new LCD TV consumes over 50% less power than its predecessor.

The key to its energy saving performance is the new micro-tubular hot cathode fluorescent lamp (HCFL) backlight. WE5 series also come with a presence sensor that detects the body heat and movement: if the viewer leaves the room the sensor activates an energy-saving “picture off” mode, and turns back on when the viewer re-enters to the room.

The product features full HD 1080p resolution, Motionflow 100Hz technology, and the new Bravia Engine 3. It is available in 40-inch and 46-inch screen sizes.

When it comes to home entertainment, chances are we would consider the usual LCD and Plasma Television for better home entertainment. But if you had to place some eco-friendly responsibilities to it, then perhaps this eco-friendly TV made up of degradable and reusable components could be the one for you. But only one thing stands in the way and that is the matter of cost.

If you had over $130,000 then no problem. But the fact of the matter is, would there be anyone, outside the millionaires, who would buy it?

“The eco-friendly TV is made with degradable and reusable components consisting of 47 per cent glass, three per cent aluminium and 10 per cent iron allowing the TV to be 45 per cent more recyclable than a normal TV with many plastic parts.

The TV is completely hand-made – piece by piece construction – without screws and welding. The television screen functions are all activated by feather touch,” said Dr Jean Shahdadpuri, Director, Nikai Group of Companies.

Schaub Lorenz of Germany launches Eco-friendly and Expensive TV

BenQ Introduces E900HD and G900HD Eco-Friendly Monitors

Here is something that advanced computer geeks are sure to want to have. BenQ is reportedly offering a new line of eco-friendly monitors which uses a 16:9 resolutions. The new monitors, E900HD and G900HD offer an 18 inch screen and a 1366×758 720p resolution. What makes them eco-friendly is their unique backlighting system that can “produce the same 300-nit brightness as most displays by using a two-lamp backlight versus the four that would otherwise be necessary.” Power consumption is said to be reduced by 30W and mercury levels by 50 percent.

Each display also sports a nice 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 5ms pixel response time. Both displays also have built-in speakers or headphone jacks for private listening.

There was no price available yet but BenQ says the displays will hit the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, and South America this month. No word on US launch.

Electronics are the center of attraction these days as to how they can become eco-friendly. While we have seen other models such as Sony detail their products on how eco-friendly in the market, rival Philips has likewise unveiled its own version of eco-friendly Television.

Philips offers to the market an eco TV, the Philips Eco TV model 42PFL5603D, that is lead-free and has lessened the traces of Mercury that has complied with the ROHS or Restrictions of Hazardous Substances Directive.

One great feature of this TV is its ability to dim the backlight. By dimming the backlight during scenes which are darker, it enhances the black-level performance and in turn, saves power. When it comes to power conservation, this sleek TV is head of the class, in that it uses less power than a 100 W lightbulb – now that’s energy efficient! Note the backlight can also be dimmed via a room lighting sensor, so in dark rooms it will use less power.

Taking it the extra green mile, the box is made from recycled material.

Investing in home theatre systems with the top brand in television solutions like Sony will really be anyone’s dream. Their top line, the Sony Bravia is certainly something that everyone is familiar about and another added twist to that is their new unveiling of the eco-friendly Sony Bravia, the Bravia KDL-32JE1 HD LCD TV.

With features that consumer lesser electricity and parts made from recycled plastic parts from other products, you can imagine the impact that this new LCD TV will have in the market and how demand will certainly boom.

Sony has launched a new energy-saving TV in Japan this week, claiming that the new Bravia is the truly “green” option for eco-friendly TV consumers.

The Bravia KDL-32JE1 HD LCD TV sucks up a mere 89W of power, in comparison to the 160W of an equivalently-sized Bravia model.

We have heard of universal remote controls available in the market today. Normally, people hate having to find which remote control is for a specific electrical item in their homes. That is perhaps one reason why they find it best to find one universal remote to which they can lay back and have only one remote control in hand.

Our Keetsa eco-friendly mattresses were on The View earlier this morning on channel ABC, a show hosted by Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg (Whoopi was missing in action today), Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Sherri Shepherd with one of my favorite HGTV green show host, Carter Oosterhouse!

The most ironic thing is that I started watching Carter’s shows on HGTV about a month before this show aired. That show is awesome and Carter uses everything eco-friendly and green to rebuild your kitchen, backyard, etc…etc… My favorite is the backyard make-up for that basketball coach.

Now that sounds a lot better than carting the old television down to the dump, well maybe it should do because you will still have to take your old TV set down to the dump, but once there you will get a voucher for $100 off of a new Sony Bravia HD TV.

The deal will start from March 15^th 2008 and what’s good about this, is that the set that you are taking back doesn’t have to be a Sony either. So is this a good green deal from the Japanese electronics giant or just a green ploy to make people that they are getting a good green deal.

Old TV’s worth $100

Now just because you make a TV case out of wood, does not necessarily make it green as there are many other factors involved like where the wood comes from and how the case is made.

This is the Swedx version of an eco friendly TV with 19 inch LCD and comes in three different finishes, Ash, Beech and Sapele. But upon further inspection it would seem that the inside of the wooden case are not to eco friendly, when compared to a another TV of the same size it was found to use around 547.5 kwh/year but the other TV only used 370.11 kwh/year which is quite a difference.
