The precious metals are removed by workers who are knowledged in old equipment and working in terrible conditions.

However, fortunately there are people like Jacob and Michelle Fausset who have seen more to this than just making this somebody else’s problem. They produce up cycled jewellery from these old computer parts and they look really good too.

This is something that would make a nice present for that special person, these bangles have been made from wood which is then covered in scraps of old maps, in fact this one is covered in a old map of California, which is a nice surprise.

Once the bracelet has been completely covered it is then covered in a sealer, which makes it slightly water proof, but not completely water proof, which means care should be taken when wearing it.

You have to wonder how many diskettes there are in the world, most of which are not likely to be used either! But as with many things that appear to be useless and would not go down well in a furnace or landfill site. So when we find something that is really cool and is made from something that is a bit of nightmare to dispose of, this make us feel great!

The bracelet has been made by a designer in Belgium but is on sale on the Pure Design Company for $110, which may seem expensive, but this is in effect designer jewellery using recycled diskettes that have be sewn together to create a flower like design.

Neko Design were founded in 2005 in Mexico City and they do have some really great ideas on what to do with those old CD’s and DVD’s that would have otherwise taken nearly five hundred years to completely decompose. The mining industry and especially the diamond industry have had a seriously bad image problem over the years for one thing or another, but there are some companies out there looking to change all of that.

EGL USA has launched a new way evaluating diamonds, this is called the Envira Series Report and it would seem to be a good and green way of evaluating jewellery. These reports will offer an independent analysis of eco friendly jewellery. This will explain the background of the metals and diamonds, i.e. Conflict Free and Environmentally Friendly.

To complete the process the report is printed onto recycled paper and by using a soy based ink. Only eligible jewellery will be allowed to be evaluated using this system.

This is a nice piece that is suitable for both men and women, a cork cuff made from 100 % recycled materials, it is also totally recyclable too.

Being cork naturally it is fully proof, flexible and really unheard of being used for jewellery which makes the material great for it has not real competition, because nobody else uses it yet! The cuff is cut from a single piece of cork and this can be used to safely store the cuff when not it use.

It is so nice to see different products being made from old machine parts. It makes no difference what the machinery is or what it is made from, but these bangles have been made from old pieces from a lense off of a camera by Oye Modern from Adelaide, Australia.

At first it may not appear to be a camera part, but clearly as you are able to examine it is simple to see what the bangles have been created from.

Depth of field cuff by re:vision: (Silver!)

Hand finished.

Recycled from a used camera lens so expect some wear marks.

Anodised aluminium.

15mm (5/8”) wide band, 25mm (1”) gap for hand (small to medium hand),

internal dimensions 65 x 50mm (2 ½ x 2”).

What a great way to promote sustainable products, these are made from cork which is a totally sustainable product that comes from a tree. But unlike the cork that pops out of a wine bottle these are an entirely different thing altogether in fact unless you take a real close look at these items it is pretty hard to tell that is in fact cork and not some precious stone or something.

You are able to choose between a necklaces, earrings or a set of both its up to you to choose, one thing is for sure here, you are not going to be disappointed with this cork jewellery.

1. Make one knot for each of your seven wishes in the string, close to both sides of the charm.

2. Tie the bracelet around the wrist your dominate hand. (It can be pretty tight because it will loosen up a bit) Once you have it tied it, you can cut off the excess or leave it if you like.
