The ring probably uses a kind of moss for the plant, but it needs frequent watering just like any other plant. This is something that would make a nice present for that special person, these bangles have been made from wood which is then covered in scraps of old maps, in fact this one is covered in a old map of California, which is a nice surprise.

Once the bracelet has been completely covered it is then covered in a sealer, which makes it slightly water proof, but not completely water proof, which means care should be taken when wearing it.

Essentially this is an online boutique that hand crafts and markets a variety of eco friendly goods, such as bracelets made from locally sourced fluorite. The bracelets are made with fair labor craft artists and come bundled in recycled paper packaging. The eco friendly bracelets are quite pretty, and the fluorite stones come in bold colors.

Nice to see something other than oil coming out of the Middle East.

You have to wonder how many diskettes there are in the world, most of which are not likely to be used either! But as with many things that appear to be useless and would not go down well in a furnace or landfill site. So when we find something that is really cool and is made from something that is a bit of nightmare to dispose of, this make us feel great!

The bracelet has been made by a designer in Belgium but is on sale on the Pure Design Company for $110, which may seem expensive, but this is in effect designer jewellery using recycled diskettes that have be sewn together to create a flower like design.

Headbands are now very popular, but instead of buying plastic and other materials, these have been made from recycled candy wrappers, secured with a piece of elastic to keep it in your head nice and firm.

One nice little point is that there is a cut “Nahui” which is made out of silver attached to the elastic, it’s those finishing touches that make all of the difference.

With millions of CD’s and DVD’s being thrown away each year it might be a good idea to see if there is any way of recycling them, other than using them for coasters or Frisbees that is.

Neko Design were founded in 2005 in Mexico City and they do have some really great ideas on what to do with those old CD’s and DVD’s that would have otherwise taken nearly five hundred years to completely decompose. But they have turned these into beautiful jewellery which is combined with sterling silver to make a unique piece of jewellery.

Baseball Stadiums are being upgraded and retouched here and there all of the time, so what happens to all of these bits and pieces that have been removed? At one time they have been thrown away, but now these materials are recycled into some great gifts, like these cuff links.

The mining industry and especially the diamond industry have had a seriously bad image problem over the years for one thing or another, but there are some companies out there looking to change all of that.

EGL USA has launched a new way evaluating diamonds, this is called the Envira Series Report and it would seem to be a good and green way of evaluating jewellery. These reports will offer an independent analysis of eco friendly jewellery. This will explain the background of the metals and diamonds, i.e. Conflict Free and Environmentally Friendly.

To complete the process the report is printed onto recycled paper and by using a soy based ink. Only eligible jewellery will be allowed to be evaluated using this system.

Most cans are quite nice to look at, they are brightly coloured and have some interesting designs on the outside too, so making them into a piece of jewellery would be a sensible move. This is why it is no surprise to find these Beer Can Cuffs from Elsewares.

If you want something different as far as fashion and eco-friendly design are concerned, check out the eco-friendly watch offered in the market by Urwerk. The UR-202 wristwatch is a watch that is powered by air.

If you turn it over you’re going to find two turbines into the bezel controlled by a three-position switch. The turbines draw air from within the wateproof case and then the air gets into a compression chamber which powers the shock absorber of the main rotor’s winding mechanism. No batteries, and a longer mechanism life for this watch.
