Coca Cola Launches Eco-Friendly Bottling

Coca Cola continues to go green and this time, they have done so with their bottled packaging. Coke is calling it the PlantBottle, and they will begin marketing this eco-friendly bottle later this year with Dasani bottled water and yet unnamed of their carbonated drinks. The test will expand to the vitaminwater brand in 2010.

No more than 30% of the new bottle will be made of a material derived from sugar cane and molasses, which is a by-product of sugar production, said Coke officials. Not only is the glass fully recyclable, it makes everything taste better. Coke, milk and anything else that comes in glass is healthier and more flavorful. Forget high-tech possibilities. Return to simple, reusable glass.

We have seen a lot of alternative fuel solutions these days but no one ever thought that beer could end up as one of them. Thanks to this contraption acquired by Sierra Nevada, the MicroFueler can gas up any car with left over beer.

Sierra Nevada, brewer of delicious beers, has purchased a MicroFueler, a contraption that produces ethanol from water, sugar and yeast. Yeast also happens to be a major byproduct of beer fermentation, allowing them to make fuel out of beer leftovers.

While the intent was commendable, plastic is a hot item in the world of eco-friendly practices today. In fact, people are protesting them and now it seems like the wine makers have to do something about it. The solution? Cardboard Tubes.

But the issue of retaining the spirit in the bottles is up and the air. So if they don’t want to shift to these cardboard tubes, does it mean they are going to ignore these pleas?

But given the right attention, they can be reused and recycled with the proper process and expertise by companies that wish to specialized in recycling used oil. The process of recycling lubricants begins by purchasing used oil from various consolidators of used petroleum, such as gear oil, machine oils, and others that have never been burned. These un-combusted, refined oils are then sent to a processing facility. There all impurities and contaminants are extrapolated leaving it with the base oil. Various additives are then blended in to create the desired end product that can be sold retail or wholesale to consumers or businesses.

Ford Offers Eco-Driving

Ford knows what it takes to drive wiser and while many drivers today are expected to share their own versions, you have to take your hats off to the car manufacturing giant for offering eco-driving lessons for people to save on fuel and drive wisely.

The fuel consumption of cars is varied. But sometimes, it may depend on who is stepping on the gas pedal. We are all comfortable with a specific way of driving our cars but the proper way is always something that will be debatable.

Ford does its part in teaching drivers the eco way of driving and if you have the time, you may want to see what things you can improve on your driving to be a more fuel efficient driver.

EcoDriving, which Ford said it developed from German drivers’ education, combines many simple fuel-conserving tips with the type of instruction one normally receives in performance driving school. Ford offered a four-day trial course in Phoenix and got volunteers to improve their fuel economy by an average of 24 percent. It cut down the program to one afternoon to provide us a taste of how EcoDriving works.

We all have our share of ideal wants as far as mobile phones are concerned and while we do get crazy ideas, no one knows if they can really come true. Wooden casing for phones are indeed something that many would surely want to see but unless the big mobile phone manufacturers consider it, they are all figments of our imagination.

Imagine a Nokia phone made out of wood? Now that would certainly be a classic. But while we want to see this happen, the decision to manufacture them will still be left to the hands of the cellular phone giants.

It is indeed a great idea, but unless they can make it work, don’t get your hopes up just yet.

Whether or not the Nokia Wood phone will actually make it to the market is debatable, but it should be a step in the right direction; one would presume the screen is made of glass and not nasty plastic of course.

Webasto Unveils BlueCool for Cooler Trucking

Truck drivers will always have their share of dealing with the weather changes and driving a large truck under the prickly heat will always be a discomfort. Add to the fact that they have to deal with the toxins and fumes from their usually diesel run trucks and you may be imperiling their overall health as well. But that was yesterday.

Today, an old technology claimed to be renewed is being offered by Webasto, a trucking company that makes equipment. The piece of equipment is called the BlueCool which helps circulate cooler temperature from the unit all the way to the bunk area.

When the truck is stopped, the driver turns on an air handler that circulates coolant around the ice and blows cold air from the unit into the bunk area of the cab. The fan and circulation pump use only 3.5 to 10 amps from the truck’s battery — which means there’s no danger of draining the battery, Webasto says.

They are far more than that and are looking for content that gets them; a higher level of engagement. These are kids that want to save the world, be in a band and start a blog all in one day.” Fuentes said that though the world was designed from a Latina-centric perspective, HipChicas.com would likely have multi-ethnic appeal, much like Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer property. “The girls that were five when they first started watching Dora the Explorer in 2000 are thirteen now,” Fuentes said. “And they’ve already had an unprecedented amount of exposure to Latin-themed content.”
