More and more companies are embracing social responsibility with ecommerce. The double if not triple bottom line. It’s not easy and usually it’s more expensive, so all the more respect to the companies doing it.

One such company is WearPact, an organic underwear retailer with administrative offices in California. This company is aiming for 100% sustainability and you can clearly see this on their website’s ingredient page. Through this page they detail every step of their production process, from creation to packaging, from shipping and everything else. All there in plain view. It’s amazing the effort put forth by WearPact in being as earth-friendly as possible. They also donate a good percentage of their profits to several causes, including an ocean conservation charity.

Oh! and the underwear is not bad either. They have super cute prints for both men and women and each undie is made using 95% organic cotton with 5% elastane for durability and proper fit.

The idea behind it is to see how the brain is affected by lack of food etc. But it may not be as difficult for him as it might be for other Hollywood types as he already lives off the grid on the Hawaiian Island of Maui with is wife and three children.

They have no mains power and no shops just down the road either, so he might enjoy the experience, perhaps Tom Hanks might go along too!

But now it has broken into two pieces it has begun to move faster. In fact one piece has actually moved over 61 miles in a week.

There is some concern that these huge pieces of ice may be heading towards the oil and gas platforms of the coast of Alaska.

Some details of the Ice Island:

The Ayles Ice Island calved off the Ayles Ice Shelf in August 2005

The calving event was the largest in at least the last 25 years

A total of 87.1 sq km (33.6 sq miles) of ice was lost in this event

The largest piece was 66.4 sq km (25.6 sq miles) in area

This made the slab a little larger than Manhattan

Limited sea-ice in 2007 has seen the berg move 100s of km

There are over 20,000 of these mammals killed every year, the international Whaling Commission has been calling for a ban on the killing these creatures for a long time. The protesters were wearing red and with red flowers, a very stirring effect.
