CNG Fueling Station Launched

PetrolCard has announced the opening of a “Clean N’ Green Fuel” compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station in South Seattle, the first public-access CNG facility in the city. For businesses and consumers with CNG-compatible vehicles, the facility offers a readily available, affordable, and environmentally friendly fuel. The station, which is open 24/7 accepts all major credit cards and PetroCard fleet cards, and sells CNG at prices typically one-third below gasoline and diesel.

CNG is sold in gasoline gallon equivalents (GGEs), with each GGE having the same energy content as a gallon of gasoline. Vehicles using CNG typically have similar or better fuel economy ratings than standard gasoline or diesel vehicles, and today CNG is approximately one-third lower in price. The Clean N’ Green Fuel station will sell CNG to business fleets, including Waste Management, as well as individuals with CNG equipped vehicles. Current pricing at the station is in the range of $1.70-$1.80/GGE.

Europe Could Become Wind Powered

In a recent report from The Netherlands’ Society for Nature and Environment, they claim that by 2050 parts of Europe could be in a position not to be dependent on oil and gas from the middle east and Russia. This is because they believe that the North Sea is quite capable of producing 13,400 tera watt hours of electricity.

There are seven countries that border with the North Sea and it is these countries that would benefit from the North Sea being used to generate electricity. However clearly there is going to be a demand for fuel for vehicles so supplies would need to come from somewhere.

Environmental Friendly Motor Oils Released in Dubai

For its continued drive at curbing carbon emissions, ENOC has reportedly released a couple of new eco-friendly lubricants that can help drivers lower their carbon footprints. The new oil products will be available in various gas stations at the United Arab Emirates and given time, if they are successful, we may soon see them reaching our local regions.

Emirates National Oil Company has unveiled two new environmental-friendly products, Protec Green engine oil for petrol engines and the Vulcan Green oil for diesel engines which will be made available at all Enoc and Eppco service stations in Dubai.

Are Bio-Fuels The Reason for Oil Prices Declining?

Everyone knows by now that the continued oil price decline has become crazy and that it may go as far as reaching $1 a gallon. A crazy thought yet is something that many will surely love to hear.

But isn’t it contradicting in a way? Imagine that earlier this year, most of us were talking of the shift to electric cars and bio-fuels. Many have done it while others were choosing to take public transport or better yet walk or use bicycles.

With that in mind, did the demand for bio-fuels really become a prime reason or a contributing factor towards the oil price decline? Some have pointed towards the faltering world markets that is only normal. Yet you have to wonder if bio-fuels have a hand in it as well.

Overall, you would have to think, if this was the case, eco-friendly efforts towards improving the carbon footprint and pollution problems are bound to be walking in between. As oil prices continue to drop, do remember that people also look towards cheaper means of transportation. If they can make do with using their old jalopies rather than spend and convert or buy new ones that cater to bio-fuels or hybrid cars, they why bother about being eco-friendly?

Ever wonder what happens to the dirty oil and lubricants from you car once you get an oil change? Well normally, they are considered waste and dumped into a certain site where they are put to use at a different level. But given the right attention, they can be reused and recycled with the proper process and expertise by companies that wish to specialized in recycling used oil. It can happen if companies like Voyager will put their act together.

The process of recycling lubricants begins by purchasing used oil from various consolidators of used petroleum, such as gear oil, machine oils, and others that have never been burned. These un-combusted, refined oils are then sent to a processing facility. There all impurities and contaminants are extrapolated leaving it with the base oil. Various additives are then blended in to create the desired end product that can be sold retail or wholesale to consumers or businesses.

Voyager Recycles and Reuses Lubricants

Ineos Plan to Turn Waste to Bioethanol

What do you do with excess garbage that landfills can no longer accommodate? For most, the immediate answer would be to recycle them. But for Ineos, turning waste into fuel is similar to turning trash to gold.

By 2011, this is what Ineos predicts to happen. They are planning to put up a large scale waste to energy facility which will ultimately produce bioethanol and help address the growing fuel problem the world is experiencing at the moment.

Ineos claims that its bioethanol, which can either be blended with petrol or replace it altogether, reduces greenhouse gases by 90% and avoids using food crops in the production process.

Mr Williams said: “The fact that we have been able to decouple second generation biofuel from food is a major breakthrough, and we expect our technology to provide cost competitive, sustainable, renewable fuels.

I just read the scariest post evah, lawyer guy Al Nye writes in his blog, that a chief energy advisor mentions that the gas prices we are seeing today of $4- $5 per gallon of gas, are in the near future gonna be known as “the good ole days”.

$12 to $15 per gallon of gas. Those are insane numbers, and all heck is going to break loose, if gallon prices went up that high. I shudder to think what will happen to the world as we know it. I hate to get all dramatic, but just think about it for a moment. It would cost most Americans like $200 bucks a week to fill up. That is simply not possible for many. I envision mass transit also being affected, as those who cant afford gas, would have to take buses and trains to get to and from work, etc.

Bike sales would go up, which is a positive. (for biker sellers) Hey, entreprenuer types, there is a fledging business idea for you. Start a bike business. Not the electric bike kind, just the regular old-fashioned human powered type bicycles.

It seems to be hard to actually find a substance like motor oil as being eco friendly by never the less this is what Green Earth Technologies are telling us about their new product G Oil, which will be available to the US public as from next month.

It is in fact instead of being a petroleum based product, which is what you would normally associate with motor oil, in fact this motor oil is made from animal fat that has been obtained from various meat processing plants.

But it doesn’t stop there, the containers are made from recycled milk cartons and the labels are from recycled paper with soy ink being used for the printing.

G-Oil, a product from Green Earth Technologies, is an eco-friendly motor oil that will soon be made available to consumers. It is based on animal fat and is petroleum free. The animal fats come from meat processing utilities. These are waste fats from cattle instead of the more commonly known fossil-fuel.

Also, the packaging is eco-friendly as well. They are recycled milk jugs and recycled paper labels using soy inks for the printing on them.

“We turn that into liquid form and use nanotechnology to have it perform in lubricant format,” explained company CEO Jeff Marshall.

Crude Fuel Costs Will Change Lives

Apparently, many people are still unaware at the problems that the crude oil crisis is imposing. It is not only limited towards transportation and manufacturing problems to which machinery need oil to operate efficiently. Looking beyond the simple acronyms, crude oil is present in all the things we have right now ranging from goods to products.

Machinery is needed along with delivery costs. It is not primarily about getting to places as far as individual are concerned. That is another issue needed to be addressed. But the fact is, all products and services need this little area of cost of direct materials and resources to produce one product.

So don’t be surprised why commodities are rising as well. It is a chain reaction waiting to explode and we just have to be ready for it.
