Toe Loop Sandals Made From Recycled Leather

There are more and more artists and manufacturers popping up that create fashion and accessories out of recycled leather materials, such as Be Good Designs.

I found these ultra cute eco sandals from their recycled leather collection, actually most (if not all) of their products are made using 99% recycled leather. The leather comes from seats, armchairs, and such.

I like the sandals above because of the toe loop, instead of the flip flop traditional design. The toe loop is easier on my small sweet feet. I also am really digging the flower applique on the side of the straps.

Be Good Designs are an up and coming green brand, and one to add to your eco shopping provider wish list. Their site was acting up for me earlier, so not sure if you will be able to view all their offerings. Let me know.

A British artist named Ptolemy Elrington, creates jaw dropping scultures and art from recycled items found in kitchen pantries such as utensils, juicers, mixers, and toasters.

He also has created recycled art from used hubcaps, and most recently was commisioned to create recycled art from debris and other garbage that was cleaned up out of nearby British rivers.

Check out the Drangonfly and Crayfish he created out of used grocery shopping carts. Look at the precision and detail of each piece. Lovely!

This has got to be my find of the day. A uber cool coffeetable made with one recycled airplane wheel. I found this one at Green With Envy, a site dedicated to a wide variety of eco, recycled, and green gifts.

I have not come across this before, this is new to me. We have profiled loads of green recycled goodies, but not any with recycled airplane materials. So i was quite excited at this discovery.

The Boeing 707 wheel table is powder coated, with a 40″ tempered 3/8″ glass top and features internal illumination.

From the site, it seems this is a special order item, so if interested in it, call the site staff first. I previously profiled a coffeetable made out of a washing machine drum, and i thought that was pretty cool. This one is uber cool.

Just imagine having a dinner guest ask about your lovely table, and your response is, ” Oh, yeah that table is made using a recycled Boeing 707 airplane wheel”. Dude, that is too cool.

It’s great to see items made from tyres, we say this a lot and it seems there are more and more designers seeing that the material used to make the humble car tyre can also be used to produce some excellent items that can be used both in the home and outside.

Each rug uses around 130 to 140 inner tubes from bicycle tyres that have been discarded. Made in India by hand and loomed by hand too.

I found a neat set of bags that make it easy to recycle paper, bottles, and cans. The Colored Coded Bags, come in sets of three, one for each of type of recyclable.

Forget about throwing all your recycled items together in one big sack and later having to sort it all out. That is so 2005.

The Color Coded Bags are also an excellent way of getting your kids involved in the household recycling efforts, as the bags come with small illustrations. The bags are machine washable, come with handles, and are collapsible for easy tranport.

We all know that everyone loves ice cream. We all have our own preference when it comes to brand and flavor. Strauss Ice Cream is a known brand and among their promotion right now is going the organically green way.

We all have apprehensions and question in mind when it comes to green implications on products we purchase. But considering that this ice cream brand is a good one, it is worth giving it a try.

One good thing about “reviewing” organic, natural, etc items is that there is definitely no shortage of choices! I try to choose items that “average” people might actually use or consume, not going for the $100 “organic cotton sheets“, but things you might see at your grocery store or that are worth purchasing online but are not too expensive.

Today I came across Straus Family Creamery Super Premium Ice Cream in Raspberry, which states “I’m Organic” rather boldly on the package. This product is not only USDA Certified Organic, but is also certified by KSA to be kosher and certified organic by Marin Organic, a local Marin County “association of organic producers” where the creamery is located.

Now that we all know that there is mercury in the old type light bulbs it is some what hard to throw them away without actually worrying about where they are going, after all if enough light bulbs all end up at the same land fill site, wouldn’t all of the mercury collect in one place?

This is a serious concern and so to address this problem Swedish store Ikea will be putting recycle bins in all of their stores then the problem is there, hopefully they will dispose of them in a proper manner.

do you NOT want to set yourself apart from the competition? sure, when you go green you are saying so many things, you are saying hey, i care about the planet, hey, i care for the future sustainability of my business and hey, i care about the growing demand for eco friendly products and practices
what eco friendly materials can i start using? from fsc certified wood for furniture shops to sustainable fibers for clothing retailers such as bamboo, hemp, canvas, organic cotton there are a number of different ways to add some green in your business

Speaking to letsrecycle.com on Friday, Mr Howarth said: “We are taking all grades of non-hazardous wood which we will recycle into a number of products including Biomass wood chip, horse bedding, cattle bedding and particle board.

“The area was selected due to the lack of wood recycling facilities in the Yorkshire and Humber region and that much of the wood waste travels away from Yorkshire towards the particle manufacturers in the North West and North Wales,” he explained.
