This is so cool, from a distance, this lamp would look like a normal lamp, but as you get closer, it becomes apparent that it has been made from cocktail umbrellas like those that some people like to have in their tropical cocktails.

These are neat because not only are using recycled materials, they actually change appearance when the light is on or off, which effectively means that you are getting two different styles for the price of one.

Bikes are great, they are eco friendly and good for the planet too, but some bikes are more greener than others, like this bike from Renovo. These bikes are handmade from wood, which has been described as nature’s carbon fibre; the bike frame itself only weighs between 3.5 and 4.5 pounds, but is very strong.

Absorb vibration better than steel, aluminium or carbon, producing a uniquely smooth ride

The fatigue life of wood exceeds steel or aluminium, and approaches carbon

One thing about pop icons and aspiring musicians today is that they love to use the best instruments in town. In this case, these guitarists may want to apply a certain green patch towards buying their next guitar. The best part of it is that people will not even know the difference (unless of course they divulge it).

Most of these guitars are made from bamboo or other wooden raw materials that are being tagged as dilapidating in terms of availability. As long as that guitar can carry the same tune, pop artists and guitar players will not know the difference.

Those looking to reduce their financial footprint will prefer the First Act Bambusa electric guitar ($400, right), made from bamboo, “one of the fastest growing plants in the world, and an uncommonly renewable resource,” with a water based finish and food-safe glue, should you run out of granola.

Next on the list are the Martin Sustainable Wood Series acoustic guitars ($1700), constructed from a mix of FSC-certified wood plus some old-growth mahogany and rosewood.

Your other option is the Gibson LEs Paul SmartWood, built with wood that has been certified by the Rainforest Alliance, which receives part of the revenue from each unit sold.

Hi, guys i have found a series of eco friendly futon covers from a loyal reader of our blogs, his name is Matt. I like to call him Futon Matt. He specializes in all sorts of futon mattresses and has been in the futon business for over 7 years. That’s alot of time to be around any one thing. LOL.

Let me get serious for a second. I was perusing the site that Matt has created and on the left sidebar is a section devoted to his eco friendly offerings. He has futon frames made out of sustainably harvested lumber (from Pennsylvania), futon covers made of recycled fabrics, and a selection of organic futon mattresses.

What great picnic table, this has been created by using old recycled skis, which is a good idea, because these things are made to be very tough, after all they do go through a lot a punishment when they are being used, so they must be good enough for a table.

It comes in at a size of thirty inches by sixty inches and is very heavy, which will last the test of time, unlike normal picnic benches which are prone to splitting and drying out, which is not going to happen with these ski tables.

Now this is a subject that most people do not like to talk about, these just had to be shown as a great eco friendly alternative to a regular wooden coffin. They can be made to order within forty eight hours, although this can sometimes be around twenty four hours depending on the specifications required by the customer.

They come in light biscuit and a reddish brown colour and can be finished off with a combination of coloured bands, which is down to personal choice.

It seems that chopsticks can be used for other things, after all for most people eating with them is just too hard and the food ends up getting really cold before you can finish.

Well not anymore, its back the real cutlery for food and the chopsticks can go on to be used in a much better form of art, in fact these bowls are made from chopsticks and they really look OK too, so you can either buy one of Bryan Parks masterpieces or simply try and make one for yourself.

Recycled barrel wine table

These are great fro the outdoors they will provide both heat and light, these log torches come from environmentally produced sources.

Each log will last around an hour, and when they have finished they will be completely gone leaving just a pile of ashes which can be easily and eco friendly disposed of.

The wood comes from Estonia where they make furniture, but before the wood is harvested the areas need to be cleared and it is the dead wood that is used to make these logs.

TYPE: Laminated Hardwood.

BOTANICAL NAME: Brosimum Rubescens of the family Moraceae.

DURABILITY: Mechanically very durable.

COLOR: Deep rich red, with a golden lustre, yellow and red stripes.

FINISH: high natural polish.

SOURCES: All of the lumber comes from Brazil’s forests that are responsibly managed.

WEIGHT: 63 pounds per cubic foot.

EBONY WOOD

(model 18 to 21 and model 34 to 37)

TYPE: Hardwood.

BOTANICAL NAME: Ebenaceae.

DURABILITY: Mechanically very durable.

COLOR: Lustre Black.

FINISH: Ability to polish very smoothly.

SOURCES: All of the lumber comes from Gabon’s forests that are responsibly managed.

WEIGHT: Ebony is one of the most intensely black woods. It offers very high density (it sinks in water).
