10 Ways To Reduce Gas Consumption

Brian over at Daily Fuel Economy Tips, writes a straight forward article on ways we can all save some cash at the fuel pump. His tips are pretty simple and you’ve probably read them or heard them before, in fact, i’m sure i’ve covered most of these tips here before. But the tips serve as a solid reminder.

Gas prices are not as high as they were in the summer, but won’t be going down much less than where they are now. In my small town, the average is about $2.70 so it’s not as high as a big city, but could always be lower, right? Below are some quick reminder tips to save on the fuel.

10 Ways to Reduce Gas Consumption

  1. Don’t Drive if You Don’t Have To
  2. Don’t Idle For Too Long
  3. Accelerate Slowly and Moderately
  4. Don’t Speed, Stay at Limit
  5. Coast Instead of Constant Braking
  6. Drive Aerodynamically (keeping windows up and rooftops closed)
  7. If Driving Over 35 MPH, Use A/C
  8. Check for Proper Tire Inflation (conserves up to 3% of gas)
  9. Keep Air Filters Clean
  10. Keep the Car Light (less weight=less gas used to tow)
