11 Tips To Make Your Halloween Eco Friendly
Green as a Thistle points out an interesting waste problem in one of her posts, when she discusses pumpkin carving. For Halloween millions of folks will buy a pumpkin to carve it and then display it on their front lawn or porch.

This is a tradition as old as time and many won’t part or change it, but let’s take a look at it from an eco angle, the waste angle. Some might do something with the carvings or the pumpkin itself, while many will simply trash all of it when Halloween is over.
Here are a few suggestions on what to do with the carvings or the pumpkin when the trick or treaters have come and gone.
11 Tips To Make Your Halloween Eco Friendly
- buy your pumpkin from an organic farmers market
- bake the seeds, instead of trashing
- use leftovers for animal feeding, like for chickens
- donate your used pumpkins to local farms
- make and freeze pumpkin puree
- buy from pesticide free pumpkin patches, if available in your area
- bake a pumpkin pie
- instead of using a pumpkin, try something different like squash
- make pumpkin soup
