A really smart chaise lounge

This type of furniture is becoming more and more popular, with apartment living etc, although this piece would be equally at home in any building, whether they are fancy apartments or a family house.

Cortiça Chaise Lounge

The material used is waste cork, from the factories where the corks are made, which is nice to know that the trees have not had their bark stripped just to become a stopper in a bottle of wine.

Materials: Pure cork (reclaimed waste material from the bottle-stopper industry), non-toxic marine-grade adhesive, and a small amount of polyurethane.

Dimensions: 72″ long x 20″ wide x 26″ tall.

Handmade by Daniel Michalik, Long Island City, NY. Priced at $4,988.00.

I’ve seen big chairs like this actually; but not a chaise lounge. It looks a bit uncomfortable but the idea is great; pricey but a stellar use of reclaimed materials. Good find.
