Adding a Touch of Green in the Furniture Business

When the management team of any business entity has run out of ideas to help grow its business and increase its sales, people just have to look at the fashion trend and in-demand ideas to which people are now turning to. Of course, one of these aspects is that of applying a green standard tag towards any commodity, an important thing that has made most people thinking and wiser.
Such is the intent of Brandon’s Home Furnishing, which is planning to transform its store in Wellington into a SoHo Living Warehouse. With a declining market at present, they are thinking of new ways to help rebuild and exist in these hard times.
Expanding a furniture business now seems risky. After all, the housing market is expected to get worse before it gets better, and experts predict an uptick is still a couple of years away. Already, there are casualties in the furniture industry: Earlier this year, veteran retailer Modernage closed its doors after 67 years in business.
But Carron and Patel, who are not affiliated with Brandon’s, have a strategy they think will overcome the market.
“What we’re trying to do is establish a niche within this industry that other people aren’t doing. We’ll get ahead that way,” Carron said.
SoHo Living’s new niche includes eco-friendly, “green” furniture using reusable woods from India, Indonesia and China, plus eclectic, “world-inspired” decor featuring Asian fusion and Indian pieces.
