Are You a Green Renter?

by Missy on Friday, August 29th, 2008

A clever idea has surfaced in which green renters in the Portland, Oregon area get matched (or should i say hooked up) with owners and landlords of green buildings.

At Green Renter you are able to peruse from available eco-friendly single family homes, buildings, condos, apartments, town homes, and office buildings in the Portland area.

Buildings included need not be LEED certified, but they must include at least one feature in any of seven key green areas: energy, water, building materials, operations, building surroundings, certifications and awards or other innovative green features. Ultimately, GreenRenter plans to rate buildings listed on its site, it says, as well as to expand beyond the Portland area to other US cities.

There is no cost to join. The idea should take off well, as Portland Oregon is a hotbed of green development and green innovation.
