Bags Made From Potatoes

by David Allen on Friday, November 28th, 2008

Normally you would be expecting to see potatoes in a bag, but an eco friendly company called Biopac have actually come up with a way to produce a plastic looking bag from potatoes, well to be exact they use waste potato starch.

However, as you can see from the images these bags look like a regular plastic bag, but when these are put into a composter they take just twelve weeks to decompose. Nevertheless, even if these bags went into the landfill, they would still decompose and instead of leaving toxic waste, these bags will turn into water, carbon dioxide and other non toxic materials.

  • Great idea, I guess you can do more than fry or mash them.
