Bladderwort Mosquito Killing the Natural Way

by Brian Yalung on Monday, August 25th, 2008

Pests like mosquitoes will always be a potential health risk if you are not careful. Mosquitoes are known to be carriers of unknown diseases as they roam the world, biting anything or anyone where they land.

Mosquitoes are known to be carriers of illnesses such as Malaria and Dengue and to avoid potential contamination and irritation, it would be best to turn to mosquito traps to avoid them. To further strengthen that hold, applying eco-friendly tags to it can all the more be viable.

If you want to avoid these flying insects, here is an eco-friendly way to try out especially if you are looking for an alternative way towards the usual aerosols to kill these carriers of diseases.

Bladderworts are submersed free-floating plants. They are rootless but stay on the top of the water with the aid of long, skinny stems.

They are carnivorous plants with small round bladders attached to their leaves which trap and then digest mosquitoes and other tiny water critters.

The great thing is they seem to have a hungry man size appetite. Spread out a few bladderworts and you will quickly see your mosquito population dwindle away.

Common bladderwort has yellow flowers and purple bladderworts have purplish flowers. If your local nursery doesn’t carry them, you can order them online.
