Boeing Unveils Eco-Jet
Boeing has just unveiled their latest jet, which they are touting as “the most environmentally friendly jet ever built.”
The Dreamliner 787 is supposed to burn 20 per cent less fuel than similar aircraft, will produce fewer carbon emissions and will have quieter take-offs and landings.Aerospace expert Richard Aboulafia said: “For a bunch of years Boeing had sort of rested on its laurels and then all of sudden it came roaring back with the plans for this new plane.
“If this plane works out as promised, then I don’t think airlines are going to have a whole lot of choice. If they fly international routes they are either going to need a 787 or its equivalent pretty quickly because it offers a real step change in costs.”
The plane was officially launched today, in front of a crowd of thousands in the US.
