Cheap Car Sharing In Chicago With I-Go Cars

by Missy on Friday, February 6th, 2009

Are you in (or near) Chicago? Want to participate in some local car sharing instead of buying new? Give I-Go Cars a look.

Based on the north side of the city, I-Go Cars is a car sharing service in where you opt in to an annual membership service and when you need a car, you pay for it on an hourly basis. Everything such as insurance and gas is included in the rate.

What is the difference between I-Go Cars and a regular rental agency?

The cars from I-Go are all low emission and the company prides itself in sustainability. After all this is the entire premise behind their concept. If you opt to share a car, instead of buying new, this saves alot in new auto waste. To the tune of 7 billion pounds. That is the amount the auto makers are piling up ANNUALLY because of the introduction of new car models.

Also the car is placed in a neighborhood parking space, in which all local members of I-Go share the car.

Eligibility?

  • US License (in state)
  • 21 or older
  • No major violations within past 3 years
  • Valid major credit card

For all the cool details, head on over to the I-Go Cars website.

  • This is a great idea. I'm glad they're doing this. Sharing cars is really much more eco-responsible than owning a car, and just more sensible in general.
  • Cool, i will definately take a look at this. My sister doesn't have a car and needs one occasionally. This would be great for her.
