Car2Go, New Car Sharing Service Coming To The US
In Ulm, Germany a car sharing service pilot program by the name of Car2Go is making great strides. So good in fact, plans are underway to bring the service to the US.
Car2Go is essentially geared toward urbanites that do not have a need or desire to own a car. Through their research they estimate that 40% of city dwellers do not own a vehicle. And the number seems to be increasing because of environmental concerns and the sluggish economy.
Through the Car2Go service people are able to rent a Smart4Two vehicle by the minute, hour or day and it includes fuel, insurance and cleaning. This make quite an attractive option for the new generation of drivers aged 18-25.
I feel this is a trend that will increase over time and many such similar services will be popping up in many US cities soon. For now, expect Car2Go to hit the city of Austin later this year.
