There is always the worry that while out hiking that you may have an accident or find something that needs reporting, but because you have been walking for some hours your cell phone has run out of battery.
This could be a thing of the past; this new concept in rucksacks with the Piezoelectric powered back pack, which uses the power of friction to create a charge which is then harnessed for the use of powering up a light or charging up a small device.
The is the result of a joint venture between Michigan Technological University, Arizona State University and Nano Sonic Inc, its in the concept stage at the moment, but would have a lot of applications, including military.
