Earthships!
New Consumer wrote an article recently about Michael Reynolds, a man who designs an builds “earthships”. His companies, Earthship Brighton and Earthship USA have been building these uniquely designed homes for over thirty years. Reynolds describe earthships to as “independent vessels to sail on the seas of tomorrow,” it actually is a modern, eco-friendly home!
New Consumer, more practically, explains Earthships:
A more practical description might be self-powering and regulating dwellings with passive solar (building the homes orientated towards the sun to make maximum use of it as a source of heat and lighting), part-earth sheltered and heavily insulated with tyres.
The homes are designed to be a consistent temperature and require very little heating and cooling. The light and rainwater are collected through micro-renewable harvesting systems.

The best part? Reynolds and his crew are available for hire! To find out more, go to their website!
