Eco Friendly Engagement Rings

by David Allen on Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

The engagement ring is one of the most significant items that anyone is every going to buy, it signifies the couple’s intention to move forward and create a new life for themselves. However, buying an engagement ring, which is eco friendly, is not as easy as it at first might seem.

Buying jewellery from high street stores you can never be too sure where the materials have from or in that case where the piece of jewellery has been made. There are many perils along the lines of conflict diamonds and jewellery that had been made in some of the worst conditions, including the use of child labour. The only way to be sure is to find out where the engagement rings have been made or where the materials have come from.

  • So what are some options? I have seen rings whose "diamonds" are produced in laboratories but I am skeptical of the chemicals that may be in them or used to produce them. What about wood/white gold rings? Will they even stand up over the next 50 years? And conflict free diamonds? Other than a certificate and smiling salesperson behind the counter (who is about to make a commission) how am I to know for sure the diamond is conflict free?

There are a lot of choices and when it comes to tradition and longevity of the ring you don't want to make a costly mistake.

So, I ask. What are some options or tell tale signs? And what are some engagement options other than the traditional diamond ring?
  • hey man this is right but can you please focus more on how we can find where our rings are made No one in todays world have time to even think of that
