Eco-friendly Pillows from Alejandra Dunphy Textiles

by Brian Yalung on Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Everyone is going green and this includes the pillows which we find in our bedrooms. For many people it would not matter. As long as they are fluffy and great to lay on, nothing else matters. But adding the eco-friendly initiative provides something different.

Inspired by simplicity, nature, organic shapes and architecture, the collection includes both hand-knitted and hand-loomed products. 100% natural fibers such as certified organic cotton, luxurious alpaca, among others are colored with natural dyes and woven using ancient weaving techniques that have been passed down through many generations. Products are made to order reducing excessive waste to landfills.

Dunphy aims to provide them and their families with a better quality of life. No child labor is used. It’s much easier NOT to pay attention to these issues but the designer is both passionate and committed.
