Eco friendly plant food

by David Allen on Saturday, June 9th, 2007

Its is estimated that in the US, green figured consumers spend up to $40 billion on making their gardens and lawns look fantastic, and that figure is growing all the time, yet with all the care and hard work that they are putting into their pride and joy, the majority of all plant foods on offer to them are produced with synthetic chemicals which can be harmful to the environment as well as themselves.

There is a product called TerraCycle, which was the subject of a science project being performed by a two students at Princeton University, one of the students carried on the project after leaving college and this is how TerraCycle began.

How the product is made is that organic waste is collected and fed to millions of earth worms, they get to work on it and eventually this is turned into compost, this is then liquefied and bottled, and normally that would be it, but there is another fascinating edge to this product, the bottles are collected from schools all around the US, these are soda bottles primarily which gives the kids a great insight into recycling.

So as you can now see, the product TerraCycle is made from completely recycled materials from the product to the packaging.
