Just like electric cars, electric planes need the proper recharging stations to make them fly and transport people from one point of destination to the other. While this technology has not yet really tackled the aviation way of transport, the introduction of the solar-powered hangar worth $145,000 may just change all that soon.
The solar powered hangar was made for the Elektra One plane, something from PC-Aero which can fly for up to three hours at 100MPH on a single charge. The plane actually made its first run last Spring and may go on sale sometime next year in Germany.
The solar powered aircraft is made from light fiber composite and a battery that weighs around 440 pounds. The airplane is powered by a 13.4 kw engine. The plane can however only accommodate one passenger and can carry a total of only 220 pounds (pilot included).
