T8 Flourescent lamps have been around since the 1930s and while there have already been calls to shift to more energy-friendly lighting solution, Philips unveils a very conservative and interesting one with these drop-in LED bulbs.
What makes them interesting is that these drop-in LED replacement tubes would do away with the other costs such as rewiring. The new bulbs can be switched by a maintenance worker in a couple of minutes, pretty much easier and cheaper too.
Once installed, they save up to 41% in electrical costs. They have 40,000 hours of useful life which means minimizing the need for constant bulb replacements. No word yet on how much they would cost but you can bet it will not come cheap (with consideration to the life span and savings you get compared to the standard ones),
