Energy saving version of Google
I suppose that it could be common sense that a black screen on the monitor of your computer would use less power than a brilliant what one. So is Google reasonable for causing climate change? Despite all their efforts to create a “Green” company? Maybe that is why a new search site Blackle is causing a stir.
An all white page uses around 74 watts to display, while an all black page uses around 59 watts to display, so you can see that there is a saving there, no matter how little. However Mark Ontkrush of Eco Iron has done the math. Check out the results on this page.
And even though there have been some complicated equations made, the figures are only slightly up or down depending on which way you look at it.
But there are two things about this, the power saving is obvious, the other is black scenes are not that good for reading from or for copying from, so it has to a matter choice again, power or presentation.
