EPA Says Apple Not as Bad as Greenpeace Claims
By now anyone with even the slightest green ear knows that Greenpeace has it out for Apple. And to some extent it has been working. Apple has made public declarations in the past few months to become a more eco-conscious business.
However, a new report by EPA (the Environmental Protection Agency) suggests that, while Apple is not as green at it could be, it is not the baddest bad guy out there.
EPA’s report says “Apple has the most eco-friendly notebooks, the 4th most eco-friendly desktop, and monitors that [rate better than HP and Dell].”
In more detail, Arstechnia writes
Apple’s notebooks are the most environmentally friendly with 17 optional points. Apple’s Desktop and monitors aren’t top of the heap, though. The Mac Pro scores 16 optional points. Only three computers (out of 67) from Northern Micro (which makes the Spirit brand) do better (1@17 and 2@18). Meanwhile, HP, Lenovo and Dell don’t break 14 points. At 15 optional points for Apple monitors, they are solidly at the middle of the pack along with several NEC models, but blowing Lenovo, HP and Dell out of the water because many of the latter’s monitors only rate 13 points. Only NEC’s flat panel monitors do better with 18 optional points (they’re also the best scoring equipment rated).
If you want to check out the report for yourself, by all means go here! It’s dense and jargon-heavy, but the point is there!

This is quite off-topic — I can’t help but ask if you know what company makes the red notebook case that is pictured on the macbook above? And if you do not know, are there any eco-friendly notebook covers available that you know of?
