Fabric from Audio tape
The old cassette tape, remember that one from yesteryear the cassette tape that always got caught up in the car stereo and when you tried to take it out, the tape said inside the player and it is this tape that the designer and artist Alyce Santoros from Texas, USA.
She decided to have go and knit some this tape together and it worked, she has now developed the product into a fabric, so now there is a great product from something really old and outdated, yet another winner.
The product is called “The Sonic Fabric” and now Aiyce Santoros has joined forces with textile manufacturer Designtex, and they have launched the fabric at the International Contemporary Fair in New York.
They think that we will be seeing this product appear as a textile in the form of upholstery, wall covering and drapery.
